I first saw these a few years ago on Australian and UK sites where they have winching competitions. I was really considering getting a few of them until I saw this video. They have a lot more friction than a regular snatch block.

Jim, I noticed today that the video you linked above is from the same people (Bleepin Jeep) that put out the video showing how to use an air hammer to remove the bushing from the cast iron housing. I've seen a lot of useful stuff on their channel.
