Trail Closure Alert! They Want to Close the Iconic "Red Cone Trail" If you love this trail and or would like to drive it in the future, you must act fast. That's right, Red Cone is under legitimate threat. To make a complicated story very short; Red Cone is part of a long legal battle and is on the list of trails that can be closed as part of the new Travel Management Plan. Your comments can save this iconic trail on the Front Range of Colorado.

    My submission:

    "Hello PSI Travel Management Team

    My name is Jim Williamson

I am writing concerning the DEIS and Preferred Alternative C.

I am a Front Range street legal offroad scenery enthusiast. The Red Cone > Radical Hill > Saints John trail set is my favorite Colorado trail set. The route offers a wonderful mix of below & above timberline scenery along with mining history and technical trail obstacles. I wish to keep Red Cone open.

I am a CORE Supporter and you would like to recommend Alternative C with modifications.

I recommend that you follow CORE’s suggestions and recommendations to continued motorized recreation opportunities in the Pike and San Isabel National Forest.

    Thank you for your consideration.

    Jim Williamson

This is very discouraging. I can’t find any information though about it. The trailsoffroad page doesn’t mention anything but the page is a mile long so maybe it’s in the comments. Where would I find this horrible news? Also the core site has twin cone which has been closed for awhile but I don’t see Red Cone. Are we mixing the two?

Here are a couple of links that will potentially give you more info than you want. The Excel files contain trails by name/number.
