We won't be able to get into Moab early enough to join you guys for FnT but if we can hook up for the later drives that would be great. Do you think that would be possible?"

Yes, should be possible. Hard to know for sure when we'll be heading northwest, but we can try to tag up via phone after Fins as we pass back through town.

Looks like everyone except Coleman07 has updated us in this thread in the last couple days. I wonder if Coleman07 decided not to make the trip after all? Trying to get head counts for trailhead meetups.

I checked in with Jim and Trent a hour or so ago. Plan is to meet thurs morning at sand flats at 8:45. Parking lot on left just after entrance gate. This lot is the staging area for hells revenge although we are planning on fins for the morning.

Time and place to meet for elephant hill?

BTW: I contacted the outpost. They have 87 octane only, accept credit over $5, and are open 9am to 6pm.

Nate. That looks like it. About 50 feet past the pay station.

Derek - If you are meeting us in Moab, we are planning to meet at 7:15 at the Shell station on the south end of town (east side of road). The plan is to get to Needles Outpost at 9am so a few can top off with gas before heading into the park. You are welcome to meet us there as well. Most of us are working on reserving our backcountry use permit online today, but we will still have to go into the park headquarters to get the final paperwork.

I will meet you at the shell station in Moab. I reserved my day use permit today, however I was not given in instruction for additional paperwork so I would like to follow your lead to park HQ. I will also need to fill up at the outpost.

Sunday @ 9PM - Jim made it home. Three states (UT, CO, WY) and a nice relaxing day. Nary a car on my tail or me following a license plate, wide open space to stretch the eyeballs, blue sky, sun at my back.

Story of the day to follow - Jeep 1, Deer 0

I beat you home by a few hours - listened to the Bronco game on the radio most of the way. When I woke up on Sat morning, there was a small puddle of coolant under the jeep - not sure where its leaking from, but wonder what shook loose when driving those 60 miles of bumpy trail on Lockhart. Cleaning of the jeep, top goes on and it gets put away for a bit while I work on the Willys.

BWAHAHAHAHA - I listened to the thoughts in my brain as the soft top was rattling way too loud for any other outside audio.

We spent the morning in Palisade and were planning to drive back home via Rocky Mountain NP. When we got close to the park entrance we found that Trail Ridge Road is closed due to snow drifts from last week. So we took the scenic Rt 125 toward Walden and down Poudre canyon. Got home before 8. And then... the following picture made me wonder if I really own a Jeep... The odometer was zeroed when I filled up the tank in Palisade. It may not be able to drive over large rocks but it sure is fuel efficient

I was happy to get 205 miles on my tank from Rifle back home without an extra stop. 311 is barely believable!

I might get 311 miles if I used all 25.5 gallons in my tanks.
