9/28 Adopt a Road Clean-up Runs
Thanks to all that came out and helped....I believe we had a total of 12 vehicles, so it was very nice to be able to send larger groups to each trail, and then allow for those groups to split up as needed for their trails to expedite the trash pick up.
Those of us that went to DC included myself, Louis, Nate, Mike, Ty, Jackie and Prabha. The fall colors were almost peaking, and the views and color along DC was superb, and there were no issue with vehicles. Additionally, there was very little trash or shooting debris - the least I have seen by far doing this. This could be due to the fire and shooting ban is keeping more people from camping/visiting than normal...although most of the fire pits looked to have fresh ashes and coals. The USFS also has 3 full-time trail crew, and maybe their continued presence has helped establish a new level of conscientiousness from the users through both education, awareness and enforcement when needed. I also think all the work our group has done over the past 6-7 years has cleaned up a lot of the long term trash, and once the area is seen as clean and up kept, I think users are more likely to keep it that way.
As participants get a chance, please post any photos - I did not take many, but I will try to post some that Jen took. Hope the BF group had as nice of a day as we did.
