Default Is this exhaust gasket correct???

1990 YJ with the 4.2L (with MPFI mods)

Exhaust manifold output / connection to exhaust pipe downtube. Two bolt (stud) connection.

Should there be a gasket in this connection?

Does this gasket look at all correct (it seems way large)?

    What say ye?

(no old gasket around but the connection had one broken stud where an old gasket might have fallen out)

Edit....yes a doughnut gasket would normally fit between the manifold and collector flange. Although I think I may have skipped it in mine and just compression fitted the two together. Of course I am emission exempt.

no gasket there, just tighten it down. those are notorious for coming loose and making people think the gasket disappeared. the 4.0 and 2.5 have a donut, but not the 4.2.

I went with Paul's recommendation - no gasket - tightened it up and went for a ride. It was a nice ride. Now I'll confirm some Yes's for some upcoming runs!

    Thanks folks.

If anyone says a suitably sized gasket could/should be used - I'm game to hear of it.
