Default 6/22 China Wall Anniversary Run

Thread starter...Thanks to all who came out and dealt with non-ideal weather and crowds in the morning. The group that stayed through a bit of a rainy lunch (thanks to Scott for the grill and shelter! as well as those who brought or left food) found better weather and an empty trail in the afternoon. Glad to hear Scott made it home in the big chevy...thanks Jim for ensuring he had some assistance. Post up all your pics or links to albums etc...

Added the rest of the photos...there are a bunch of series of those climbing the wall from the afternoon group...they are a bit repetitive, but you can then choose to download your favorites.

I have some photos, but haven't had any down time to deal with them yet. Very busy day yesterday returning from the campout. We woke to snow on the peaks around us and some frost on our trailer and gear yesterday. We came prepared because the forecast predicted snow, but it still surprises me to camp in such low temperatures on the summer solstice. It was a chilly, damp camping trip for most of our two days.

I'm being lazy on my photos and videos, I just clicked share on my ipad with no editing, meaning you get an iCloud link that only lasts a month, and they look fairly fuzzy if you view them online. If you download them most are 4k video, which means it takes forever to download. Since I didn't edit them you have to skip around to the spots you want to check out, James hitting China Wall and the bounce coming back down gave me a good scare but I don't really know what angle those can hold so it may have been for nothing. Scott gets some huge 3 wheel action about halfway to China Wall but I only caught the upper portion of it on my gopro so you can't see that his rear wheel is about 4-5' off the ground.

I'm new to the gopro so I just put it on my hood and tailgated folks a bit to see them go down the trail but I'm realizing from other's photos and videos that most shots look a lot better looking at the front of the truck vs the rear so I think next time I'll try putting it on the back facing the rig behind me.

I had a great time again, and it was super fun to meet even more of the group. I'm definitely going to be going on as many runs as I can with everyone this summer!

We had a good time, got a little wet in the morning but as soon as I parked in my sisters garage in Woodland Park, it was clear the rest of the day.

I didn't take any pictures, sorry.

I'm looking forward to a nice sunny run next time!

well i took it to a place in town (https://advanced4x4.com/), they said it wouldn't make sense to fab a new crossmember and that they always recommend OEM on the back one (3rd party flashy stuff is normal on the front one)

They said they found a whole bunch of other **** wrong and it's gonna cost me a fortune, lol.. i think their exact words were it was in a bit of bad shape. said my front axle joint or diff is leaking, my steering rods? (might have this name wrong) were very loose, transfer case was leaking a few other things... I dont have it all on paper so I didn't remember everything word for word but im sure it will all be listed on the invoice

I used to have 1 mechanic I went to for everything but he has been super flakey lately and doesn't work out of a shop just his house so I kinda felt stuck like i had to get this fixed and felt a bit forced to trust them with their diagnosis. I could have just had them do the crossmember and re-set the torsion bar and then taken it somewhere else for another opinion but i just said ehh **** it just do everything to get it all taken care of now before something worse breaks from not having these things done. I am hoping they're being straight up with me but am feeling a bit of buyers remorse by telling them to just fix everything they found.

Ok I got the truck back it feels great and all the new parts look shiney lol.

    Here is the full list
    • Remove and replace torsion bar cross member and bushings
    • Alignment and reset
    • Remove and replace idler arms and pitman arm
    • Remove and replace front axle seals
    • Remove and replace front sway bar links (I asked why both one was replaced not too long ago they said bushings on both were shot.. you saw them up close last weekend what do you think? Not that I can do much about it now)
    • Remove and replace transfer case output seal

A little late, but here are a few of my photos from the run last weekend. It seems I mostly have photos of trucks instead of Jeeps this time. Here are two Tacos and a Silverado.

P.S. I picked up my lug nut spline key so I am never embarrassed like that again

Didn't think about that before cause anytime I have got a key I always keep it in the car and didn't realize I wasnt given one for this truck when I bought it with those wheels.

Also got the sidewall crack checked out they said it's ok for now but my tires are about 6 years old and I need to think about replacing at some point. Either gonna get pro comp xtreme MT2s again or look at the bf Goodrich MT3s but they seem a bit pricier

FWIW- I do really like my bfg MT2s, but they did not seem to last very long on heavier truck applications (better on lighter weight stuff like jeeps). Don't know if they have addressed that any with the MT3s but might be worth checking on given your truck. I hope to replace my MT2s with the MT3s at some point.
