    Default Smittybilt

Looking at a Smittybilt wench 9500 lb load on Amazon for $300. Guessing that Smittybilt is a good enough name that $300 is a good/really good price?

    Default Smittybilt

I have an 8k H20 Smittybilt on my XJ, had it 5 years. It has worked well every time I have needed it with a good pull speed. Never had any issues with overheating. Main complaint is the amp draw is higher than many others but has not been an issue even running a single battery. I highly prefer synthetic over cable for weight and safety considerations.

I've got no experience with that particular winch but the reviews seem positive for the most part.

I run multiple Smittybilt winches. One on the little shop truck with synthetic line, one on the multi mount with steel cable that gets put on the different trailers, and one on the TJ with Synthetic, and two brand new ones still in the box, in case any of the others die. I haven't had any issues with them over the past 3 years. But they did do a design change a while back, so there could be some differences. Honestly, I knew buying cheap units was sketchy, and I honestly don't reccomend it to clients without a word of warning, that one usually gets what they pay for. But with my discounts on them, I could buy 5 for the price of one warn, so I did. I abuse them regularly. Especially the one that goes with the trailers. Never had an issue (knocking on wood)

I pretty sure you can get it from 4 Wheel parts for the same price this time of the year. And if there is any kind of issue they will replace it on the spot for the first 30 days. You can also for a nominal fee get a 3 year warranty that is basically a exchange for a new one. I would do that instead of amazon or ebay.

One with a warranty sounds like a much better deal. Thanks

My Wife and kids went in on a Smitty Built winch a couple years ago for X-mas. The box looked like it had been dropped and we did have problems with it. 4 Wheel parts exchanged it with no hassle. A couple of months later I bought one of the Smitty Built air compressors and they offered a 3 year warranty for $35 which I have not needed but..... I usually don't buy the warranty but what he heck? Sometimes it is nice to have insurance. Just a thought sometimes it is worth dealing locally.

My son and I installed the Smittybilt XRC 9500 synthetic rope winch a couple years ago and it has worked great every time we needed it!
