I did this with my parents once back in the 1960ís. It was amazing.

Sounds fun. If they had open seats for guests I'd consider jumping on.

That would be so cool.Kayaking the river and then enjoying the area in other ways afterwards. When I drove by the canyon on the way to the Arches park, all I could think about is how cool it would be to kayak the river.

I have floated part of the Friendship Cruise - but not with the big group. We did Labyrinth Canyon from Green River to Mineral Bottom in Canyonlands NP. From there down to the confluence with the Colo River at Spanish Bottom is Stillwater Canyon - hoping to do that one soon. This past summer we did a float trip from Cisco down to Moab - 3days 2nights. We used our oar rig and there is just a bit of whitewater on this section. For Stillwater, we intend to use canoes so we can get a jet boat back up the Colorado side to Moab and its much cheaper with canoes on the jet boat.

A few pics from this summers trip:
Here is looking down to Castle Valley from below Dewey Bridge:

    This is nearing Moab

Cliffs of Arches NP a couple miles above Moab: Hells Revenge would be up on the top of the cliffs on the opposite side:

Here are a few from Labyrinth in 2012 - this would be the first part of the friendship cruise (they use motors - we only floated with oars). We did 4 days and 3 nights - if I were to do it again I would use canoes on the green - especially for late summer low water flows. Jen and I did this trip with my parents (who were still living in FL at the time) as well as a collection of backpaking and outdoor education friends of ours that we have done a lot of backpacking trips with students. This was one of the first trips we did together without students and we continue to do so today (including the Europe trip we did this summer).

    Some pictographs

We had a bigger group (8) and its nothing but glass flat water - so we did a lot of floating while holding aluminum cans all day:

Bocci is the game of choice on sand beaches - grudge matches (and rematches) go late into the night

There is a nice hike at oxbow bend - I think I am pointing to our intended campsite down on the right at the corner:

I hesitate to say that's some of the best kind of floating. Takes me back to my river days in KS.
