What's Up!?
First off I just want to say that I am pumped to be here and hope to have a ton of good convo's with a bunch of people who know a hell of a lot more than me! My name is Bobby and I live in Denver and am really new to the 4x4 world. I have had a lifelong fascination with overland rigs but always been the guy sitting in the passenger seat watching them drive by. I mentioned in the post that I'm a big guy in a little tuck so I feel like I should give a little backstory to that. I'm big, like really big. I am 6'10" and an ex college basketball player. So when it came time to get my first rig I had to pick something that fit me. So I am now the proud owner of 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport. Yes I can squeeze all of me just barely under the steering wheel and love every second of it. My mechanic is doing his best to talk me into unbolting the drivers seat and move it back. I bought the truck a little over 3 months ago and am obsessed. I have always joked that I wish my dad had taught me to work on cars growing up but then I remembered he doesn't know anything about cars and it has helped me grow my desire to learn as much as possible. I have an awesome mechanic who has done a lot of work to the truck but has helped me pick off certain projects that I can take on my own and learn from. So anyone on here who has an XJ and wants to grab a beer and talk shop please let me know!
As for experience and trails run it is pretty limited. My wife and I (and our 2 dogs) have run a bunch of the trails in the Yankee Hill system as well as a few off of Guanella Pass. I have been hesitant to run more for lack of experience, total knowledge of what my truck can do, as well as needing some friends so that I don't have to go up alone!
Thanks for reading and please ask questions or give comments on anything you see! The truck has a lot of potential and future plans, but I sure do love it and am excited to get together and meet the rest of the crew!
