Paul- wow brother glad you made it out safely. You are one of the more prepared folks we know.
Glad you were able to stop spreading to a range fire.
Sounds like a very hot fire....wonder what ended up being the issue....

So glad your home safe. Wires is the back of the engine....fuel lines near there.

    Hope all works our well

not a 4.0, that's a JKUR. I'd guess some of the dry sagebrush he talks about got stuck up on his exhaust and lit up, but IDK.

The online comments include this, IDK if it's true or not:

"...plastic fuel line which is connected to the underside of the body with some type of adhesive failed. This dropped the fuel line directly on the catalytic converter, which melted the fuel line causing a fire that spread to the engine compartment. Apparently this is an issue on the 4 door model Wrangler as the 2 door Wrangler have a plate preventing this."

Well crap....I can see the vid very well.
Am on my phone only right now....
Desk top is In for the 4th time for black screen of death
Laptop needs the power port replaced......
The internal prong feel out.....dam dog knocked it off the table....

So phone skills are not so great with my aging eyes.

These new style fuel line fittings keep nda suck.
Plastics dry out and get brittle then they leak.
As well heat like what he has......fire...

Biggest lesten here folks don't lift the hood.
Use the fender Wells to get the extinguisher into.
Once you lift the hood you totally expose the fire to free breathing.
Hold down attack it then lift the hood slowly.
    As you attack the fire.
Should keep it fairly small as it cannot breath.

    ^^good advice^^

No idea what that unfortunate fellow was carrying, but IMO anything less than a 10-20lb extinguisher = p|$$ing in the wind. Those 2.5lb extinguishers you commonly see people carry may look cool on your roll bar and make you feel like you're prepared, but are basically worthless in real world situations.

    In an automobile fire, your extinguisher needs accomplish a few things;
    1) smother the fire (displace the oxygen with non flammable atmosphere).
    2) cover any smoldering surfaces with flame retardant substance.
    3) cool any hot surfaces to the point they cannot reignite any leaking fuel/oil supply.

It's the third thing that people frequently don't think about when deploying an extinguisher. To get the most cooling effect, it's best to use the entire extinguisher at once (empty the tank all at one pull of the trigger). Spraying a little and pausing won't cool anything down so re-ignition is more likely.
