Default Red Cone / Radical Hill / Georgia Pass

Went up to Red Cone Saturday with a group and had a great time! Mostly sunny, mild temps and rather light wind at the summit of Red Cone and Radical Hill. Hit a few sprinkles across Georgia Pass down to Jefferson where we hit pavement again. Overall a great day on some awesome trails!

Starting the descent from Red Cone. It had it's moments in the loose rocks, but not horribly bad.

Got down to the Webster Pass intersection then headed over to Radical Hill

The last narrow shelf road up Radical Hill. It's got some noticeable passenger lean about 1/3 of the way up and loose rocks all the way to the top. I just took it slow and it was fine. At the top there's a hard left turn that's rutted and very loose. It's a little squirrely and you'll want to really be ready for it.

How is the terrain at red cone?
I heard its one of the moderate-challenging trails in the area for the first part and than it gets easier

The beginning portion in the trees is a rock and dirt mix. There are maybe a handful of technical spots with larger rocks and or loose rocks and an off camber section. I think moderate is a fair description for the bottom and easy after tree line.

Easy but attention grabbing with the apparent narrow ridge and steep descent. Its more visually intimidating than anything, and the road surface is very nice. As someone who still wheels with a carburetor and manual drum brakes (at least I got dual master cylinder), I can see where it got its reputation from...but for modern vehicles its more a matter of driver comfort with exposure to steep slopes etc.

    ^^This is a better summation.^^

I have to admit that coming down Red Cone in a few spots I got that "uneasy feeling" particularly on the first descent. My 4 low/first gear wasn't low enough to just keep my feet on the floor and let the drivetrain ease me down. Some brake application was in order and in a couple place I did experience some wheel slip/skidding. Going up Radical Hill had it's moments as well basically due to the fact it was so narrow with that nearly blind left turn at the top.

Just the stuff that makes one want to go back and do it again, and again, and again!!!
