Default Sunday trail run Wheeler Lake?

I'm kicking around the Idea of going up and camping near Como Sat September 1st and maybe meeting up for a trail run some where in the area Sunday the 2nd. Wife has a brunch date with her friends, leaving me free Sunday. If anyone is interested in meeting up for Wheeler Lake or Red Cone? If not I may just to hike the area I am camping at. I will be camping near or at he Selkirk campground (Campground doesn't fill up even on a weekend like this) depending on what is available for dispersed camping that Sat night. Anyways this will probably be my last opportunity to get out with the Jeep. As we have vacation planned mid Sept. and a landscape project to get done before the first freeze.

My wife, daughter, and I are planning on being up in that vicinity as well and may be interested in something.

Been Texting Greg and Mark. They are all for Wheeler Lake as Greg is going to be in the area and Mark will probably be able to get away for the day. So I was thinking of meeting at the Sinclair/Bus station, (640 US Hwy 285, Fairplay, CO 80440) as you come into Fairplay from The north East at 8:30-9 am. and Wheeler Lake is about 20-25 minutes from there. I will be starting a planned trail run soon to hash out details an get it on the calendar. Since I will be up in the area I will have to depend on the RSVPs I see before I leave on Saturday and the times set for departure as I don't have great cell reception up there.

MHJC will be doing more on that trail the following weekend so timing should be good. Would a JK be welcome with all those XJs?

I'm most likely going to join. You think a stock JL Rubi will be ok?

you should be fine with 33s and locker - might get some brush dragging along the sides of that nice paint though.

Yeah, like James mentioned the main concern for your rig will be the over grown scrub, and all the pinstripping you may get from this trail. Maybe they worked on that some? That is the best thing about running these old beaters (Xj's), we don't have stress about our paint jobs.
But Wheeler Lake is a pretty fun trail. Not overly hard but mistakes can be made on those obstacles.
