    Unhappy Alpine Loop Trip

Ok we all are back safe and sound! I must say this trip down there was to put it in one word "Epic!" I would highly recommend going down and exploring this area. We had so much fun. It was great getting to know Greg, Aaron and his wonderful family. Thank you all so much for sharing this experience with me.

Now for the report. We started with Mineral creek the trail was a little more challenging than I expected and the fact that it was raining made it even more so. When we got to Engineer Pass it had stopped raining and this trail was only a taste of what we were in for in regards to of the beauty we where about to experience. Once we got near the end of the trail Greg and I found a great spot to camp along the river While Aaron went the rest of the way to Lake City for their Lodging. After setting up camp we went into town to met-up with Aaron to go over what we were going to do the next day. I must say from what I saw of Lake City, this is a town I want to come back to explore more of. The park was very cool and made a great place for us to get organized for the next trail. From there we down and ran Cinnamon Pass to Animas Forks to explore the structures there. We had to wait out a down pour before we could go on as Aaron was running his rig topless. Greg and I parted ways with Aaron and his family as they were staying in Ouray and Greg and I had to find our spot to camp. We were seeing on the map that there were camp sites at the other side of Corkscrew gulch so we made are way from Animas Forks via California Gulch to Hurricane pass to Corkscrew gulch where we found a secluded campsite on a spur that we set-up camp for the next two days. I must say these are by far the most scenic trails I have ever been on (California Gulch to Hurricane pass). It was the perfect location for us. We woke the next morning and met Aaron and his daughter in Ouray to get ready for Black Bear pass and Imogine pass. We ran Black Bear down into Telluride ware again we parted ways with Aaron so that he and his family could enjoy Ouray for the rest of the day.

We were kind of lucky. For this trip we only aired down to 20 psi so I could roll on some pavement between trials. When we got to the trail head we squirted through about 30 rigs preparing for this trail. On the way to the top we ran into a couple of very young forest service rangers coming back down from managing a morning event. They were in a nice Rubicon (Greg asked if he could take their picture maybe he'll post that?). Black Bear was very fun! It was quite the experience for sure. Imogine did not disappoint either.

What can I say that hasn't been said before. This is a trip of a lifetime and I Highly Highly recommend it for everyone.
I will have to post pictures later. But maybe Aaron and Greg will share before I can get to it.

Something to add about Animas Forks, while we were down in the valley looking at the old mill town buildings.
(Dodging a decent sunny rain fall too). We had jets scream through the valley right over our heads!
Two of them, it was so surreal to experience.

    Black Bear pass... HOLY ****!!!!
It is definitely not for the faint of heart. This trip was incredible, and now that I'm back in Co Springs, it's not as pretty as it used to be!
Just absolutely no comparison. We got a little rain a couple of times, just spits, but I got absolutely clobbered yesterday afternoon when I got back into El Paso county.
I pulled into the garage completely drenched head to toe yesterday.
I found humor in it and just started giving all the other Jeepers the hang loose signs as the hail was bouncing off my head!

Here's a link to all my hi-res photos, even in hi-res, there's simply no justice to what my eyes took in over the last four days.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=197...dFMnetzlMw0Ge0

I'll try and update more as I remember things. Amazing time with David and Greg this weekend!

Thanks Paul, the only little mishap I had was that my muffler hanger broke and I developed a rather larger exhaust leak which I couldn’t find the source of (manifold? muffler? Pipe?). I couldn’t find it so I wired up the tail pipe and drove home sounding like I was running a header and a cherry bomb muffler. Ugg!

So I have some work to do if I am going to be able to joinyou guys for Wheeler lake?????? I hope me and Mark can figure it out. If it is the Manifold I might have my hands full.

The link is edit mode David, this one is just for viewing.

I was so sweating those brakes, top of the Christmas list, some nice six pistons.

edit: I'm still grateful for Gregs help right there, I was coming undone, and viewing it from out here sure seems different.
