    Default Ouray trip

Aaron and I have made plans to go down to Ouray on August 3 to the 6th. We would love it if more can join in. I plan on Camping the three nights along the trails. While Aaron and his family have lodging in Lake City and Ouray.
Plan is to meet in Montrose Co. at the City Market (128 S Townsend Ave) to gas up and get some supplies, (around 12:00-12:30) leaving around 1pm for Ouray (open to discuss optional plans) and down to Mineral creek and Engineer Pass. (I will be looking to camp somewhere along Engineer pass then meeting back up with Aaron in Lake City to complete the rest of the Alpine Loop on Saturday morning) Saturday and Sunday they will be staying in Ouray and I will look for a camp spot in the Governor basin or Yankee boy basin area. (also open to suggestions). Sunday we will deicide on whether we do Black Bear pass into Telluride and back via Imogine Pass. (this is tentative)
Plan on heading home Monday morning.

I will post this on the Calendar
Note; times might need to be adjusted but this is our tentative rough draft.

Yep still plenty of flexibility, if anyone else is leaving from the Springs area, let's convoy for the drive down.

This is going to be such a good time!

Here is the itinerary for this trip to Ouray, so that if anyone can make it for all or part of the trip you will know where we will meet each day.

    Ouray trip Itinerary
    August 3rd-6th

Friday Aug. 3rd the plan is to be in Montrose Colorado by 1:00 pm. @ the City Markey (128 S Townsend Ave) To gas-up and grab any odds and ends that anyone might have forgotten. Then leave for Ouray/trail head for Mineral creek/Engineer pass (Alpine Loop) scout along the way for somewhere to camp over night closer to Lake City once we makeit to Lake City check out the town then the ones who are camping can go back tocamp along Engineer pass for the night.

Saturday Aug. 4th the plan is to meet at the LakeFork Memorial Park in Lake City at 10:00 am.Once everyone who is expected to be there arrives we will take Cinnamon Pass (Wagner Gulch is a optional short trail (spur) along the way that leads to down to Carson Ghost town) into Animas Forks town site, from there we can go down through Eureka (ghost town site), through Howardsville down into Silverton (then drive up 550 back up to Ouray) or go up to Mineral Creek and back to Ouray open to what everyone wants to do from there is fine. Once up in the Ouray area those who are (car) camping will run up Yankee Boy Basin to find aspot to stay for the night (Governors Basin might be an option also for camping but farther away from Ouray). We (I) will be camping in the same area Sunday night as well.

Sunday Aug. 5ththe plan is to meet in front of the Timberline Deli 803 Main St, Ouray, CO 81427 at 9:30 am.(Deli opens at 7 am.good place for breakfast very reasonable) 10:00 am. We can head down to run Black Bear pass down into Telluride and Imogene pass back to Ouray, (camping again inthe area that evening), We should have free time each evening for whatever in the town of Lake City and Ouray after we are done with the trails.

Monday Aug. 6th heading back from the trip. (if anyone wants to convoy back to the Denver area,I would like to be on the road by 10:00-11:00 am.)

Note; along the trails on the first 2 days there are public bathrooms at various places along the trails.(Not sure if there are any along Black Bear and Imogene (there is one at theOuray side trail head of Imogene)

Hope others can come out for al or even part of the week end. (If there is any tweaking to doto this Itinerary we can discuss it further).

Still debating this trip. I can only get away for the weekend and am afraid that's just not enough time to enjoy the trip. I will see if I can take Monday off at the very least and then I would go.

Yeah work gets in the way. I'm glad the weather looks good for my work week, I have to get the lawns cut by Thursday to make this trip possible. Hope to see you down there. This won't be the only trip to this area for me, I want to go there every few years, it's so beautiful down that way!

That whole work thing..... I need to retire.

Really wanted to get there as I have never been, but the more I think about it we will likely just go to Tincup. My lack of planning was at fault here.

Then be certain to run Mt Antero and all the spurs around it. Plan for a long day and amazing scenery.
