Just got some new gear, and after missing Wheeler Lake (where I was hoping to try it) I found myself loaded and ready with time, so I went to Central City for the afternoon instead. I thought I'd get some good footage along Virginia Canyon / Russel Gulch, but it's all been graded to car smooth, even the rocks on the road in Russel Gulch have been ground down and new driveways are everywhere. There are no parking signs on every road except Dakota Ridge, and about half the houses in the "ghost town" are being redone or replaced. Home Depot was delivering sheet rock and roofing while I was there, and UPS and Fedex both went by. Things are changing... so I was stuck to parking areas only. I can't say all the changes are bad, all the piles of garbage and tires are gone too and there were children playing in one of the yards. If I had never seen it before it will still be worth seeing, and Oh My God road is a fun, legit shelf road and that isn't changing.
So I got a tripod slider, a jib crane, a mechanical rotating rig and a 4k drone that I'm going to leave unnamed until I'm sure, but may be the unicorn drone I've been waiting for- it seems to check the boxed for low price, good quality, easy to use, and sharp video. I liked them all but IDK yet if I'd recommend any of them; I want to do a real trail run test first, probably Pickle Gulch sometime next week (short with lots of good video opportunities). This is the first test, all raw and unstabilized video.
