    Default Adopt-a-Trail Clean-up: 7/21/2018

Our first Adopt-a-Trail clean-up run for 2018 is coming soon!
    When: 7/21/2018 at 9am
Where: USFS Ranger station in Idaho Springs (I-70 and hwy 103; 101 Highway 103, Idaho Springs, CO)
    Trails:Barbour Fork and Devils Canyon
    Length: 4-5 hours

We will have a safety meeting with USFS staff at 9am (including volunteer waivers etc), so please be there ready to go at 9am or earlier.
We will most likely split into two groups - one group will run DC and one group will run BF. USFS ranger Brant Wobig is hoping that a member of his team will be able to join at least one of the groups for the clean-up etc.

    A couple points from Brant:

    1) Please make sure everyone has Long Pants, Long Sleeves, some type of eye protection(sunglasses are ok), gloves, if you have them(we have a few pairs we can loan out) and closed toe shoes(boots are best) food and water of your choice.
    2) Really trying to prevent people from showing up in shorts, tanktop and flip flops to do any type of work outside. If people are not dressed for some level of work, I cannot allow them to volunteer.
    3) We will provide some trash bags, hardhats and extra gloves(if needed)

I will add that we generally have minimal trail maintenance to do - its mostly picking up trash and shooting debris. Gloves and closed toed shoes are a must from Brant's perspective - they have usually requested long pants and long sleeves but not necessarily enforced it for the kind of clean-up work we do, but it may be good insurance to have them with you just in case.
A 5 gallon bucket or something similar is very useful for carrying around each site to put trash in - then it can be unloaded into larger trash bags/containers. Additionally, lunch, drinking water, and whatever you basic outdoor and 4wd trail run gear is needed.
Extra jugs of water are also helpful if any campfires need put-out.

Just bumping this up...Adopt-a-trail clean-up run this sat for Devils Canyon and Barbour Fork. For the many new members, this is a great way to meet some of our group with more of a social aspect as well as the trails are easy (DC) and easy to moderate (BF) if running with a stock vehicle and or limited experience. Please wear closed toed shoes, reasonable outdoor work clothes, gloves, and whatever food and water you need.

    thanks

”Wife had surgery earlier this summer and hasn’t been to the mtns at all. She’s wants to go to rmnp on Sat. So I am out..”
