We did run Run Red Cone, Radical Hill, and Saints John road. It was a great day of wheeling. There was a newer JK his motor cut out descending red cone (lost power breaks and power steering), he was lucky and hit the signs at the bottom, which slowed him down enough to not go over the edge.

I'll see about pix later today - oddly I took "only" about 20 (typical would be 120)...

The western trailhead for Red Cone / the exit would find a curious situation - a white 4-door jeep with a gash in the right rear door and one rather shaken driver. It seems the jeep, on the last pitch, lost power and brakes. The vehicle gathered speed, got sideways and found the right side taking out two heavy steel signs. We were able to winch pull one sign upright while the other with a concrete base was pushed upright.

`can't speak for XJ's by my YJ does fine.

The last pitch has some reasonable holes - RF then LF - cross undulation that can cause upset - if you're going quick (as the white jeep was). I've traveled Red Cone 3 or 5 times with once having a broken front hub (freewheel one tire - the other side was ARB locked to the drivetrain) that downhill I used brakes as the jeep wanted to get a tad sideways, otherwise I typically engine brake down (manual trans) w/o concern.

A few clicks of the parking brake can also help keep your rear-end behind you.

Wow! That story just got added to my list of reasons I will likely never do Red Cone. (Stupid, I know, but my gut has always told me to stay away from that one). Glad no one was hurt (or worse). Nice pictures!

Huh....wonder what happened to his engine to cut off like that. Very poor timing.
We are having ignition module issues with our work trucks. Have had one shut off at 70mph with 12k on the trailer behind it!

    These RF keys suck!

No biggie, let the drivetrain do the work.

For what it's worth, the back side of Webster pass/ Red Cone trail exit, is completely cleared of snow now.

I cannot imagine taking that last descent without power, especially with the Right-Left undulation.
