    Default Easy fishing area

I am looking for a good fish spot in Norther Denver in the mountains. So around boulder/coal creek/ lyons area.

Want to take the wife out on 4th of July.

Problem: My wife is 7 months preggers. So any remote / serious off road, or long offroad is out. Also little hiking to no.

Highest priority is a good atmosphere. Looking for trout. We will be using spoons. I really dont care if we catch fish.

    Questions
    1. Gross reservoir. Is it a lot of walking to get to a good spot?
    2. Should I just do South Saint Vrain off the 7?

There are some good spots along the Big Thompson in the canyon, also the tailwater coming off Estes Reservoir.

Chinns lake is an easy and short 4wd road. You also have Fall River and Loch Lomond in the same area.

Maybe the Brainard Lake area? It gets busy there but it's easy access to a couple of small lakes. And fairly short hike to a couple more.

    Thinking Brainard. Maybe do http://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/EldoradoCanyon?
Eldorado Conyon has the river that runs through the bottom portion of the park. Is that any good?

I caught on the FS page that the Brainard Lake road recently opened (reconstruction).

South boulder creek is pretty small and flows fluctuate based on Denver water demands. Never fished there but I wouldn’t expect anything spectacular from it, nice area though. If you want river fishing head down to the Foxton area on the north fork of the south platt, it’s right by the conference with the south fork so you can explore up towards deckers too. There’s also the Big Thomposon between Estes and Loveland which just fully reopened after the 2013 floods which means it probably hasen’t been too heavily fished in about 5 years.

Also up by Brainard is Lefthand reservoir which is a fairly easy dirt road drive and I have heard is decent fishing.
