This will be my first trip to Ouray and the wife and kids will be with me. If anyone is interested we’ll be there 7/5-7/8. Should be some fun scenic wheeling!

Definitely maybe considering it.
Hope you can make it Trent, that’d be awesome!
I'm a maybe. I'm doing the August trip down there with others, and may have family in town that week. I am interested though!
This might be of interest.

I am not sure of the actual boundary but I am pretty sure Engineers is in Rio Grand National Forest. However they may follow suit soon.
Thanks Michael! (Btw I watch all your videos you make everything look easy). I’ll keep a close eye on this hopefully it’ll still be a go! Jonathon you are definitely welcome to join and anyone else that’s interested. If we can do it.
From the Fans of Lake City FB paged posted today
“Ok folks!! ALPINE LOOP IS OPEN. A closure has been issued for the San Juan National Forest on 6/12 until enough moisture has been present to help with the land and fires. Alpine Loop is NOT technically SJNF but surrounded by Uncompahgre, La Garita & Rio Grand NF Land. LOTS of trails within Uncompahgre and Gunnison & The Rio Grand NF’s. As you know. The closure is awful and obviously a very hard decision they had to make. So let’s hope the SJNF gets TONS of rain this week and everyone is safe. Until then... I’m posting a map of the National Forest land so you can see from a better perspective. COME TO LAKE CITY!”

From the sherriffs office today 6/12
”The San Juan National Forest implemented Stage 3 fire restrictions today prohibiting entry to any portion of that land. San Miguel County includes large sections of the Uncompahgre National Forest but borders some San Juan forest land, including east of Black Bear and Ophir Passes. Consequently, both of those passes are CLOSED until USFS downgrades its fire restrictions in the San Juan National Forest. Popular hiking and biking trails in and around Telluride such as, but not limited to, Bear Creek and Jud Wiebe are in the Uncompahgre National Forest which is under Stage 1 fire restrictions, prohibiting campfires and smoking, and are still available for recreational activities. You can find more information on USFS FB pages: U.S. Forest Service - San Juan National Forest and U.S. Forest Service-Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre & Gunnison National Forests

What I find interesting about this closure is that the fire was reportedly started by a train throwing sparks... yet there is no mention of closure to train traffic.

The closure is supposedly for "the public's safety."
Here is a source you might follow that will help us keep a pulse on things down in the Ouray area.

I am very interested in wither you are going down 7/6. I am tempted to join you to familiarize myself to the area for the August 3rd. trip, but will have to wait to see as the weekend gets a little closer.
Ouray is definitely a go on 7/5-7/8 with Engineer Pass on 7/6 and another run on 7/7 not sure which one yet. David you are welcome to join and anyone else that is interested.
I am so tempted. I will have to see how things stack-up.
Ok guy’s don’t know how to change the title but I’m not going to be able to run engineer pass. My wife and kids aren’t up for the 10hr loop (my wife donated a kidney last week). Ouray is still a go with corkscrew to California pass to see animas forks on Friday. Saturday we will most likely run Yankee boy basin. I know it’s short notice but if anyone is interested you are definitely welcome to join.
Thanks for changing that Jim. Also I think it’s corkscrew gulch and California gulch not pass. If there’s no interest I won’t bother moving to calendar but will report back.
