Hi, I'm Curtis and in December I flew out to Gainesville, FL to buy my brother's 1990 4Runner. He had put in a lot of work and luckily for me, it got me the 2,000 miles home.
This is my first 4WD vehicle and the impetus to get it was to get me and the family out in nature more often. So far, so good! I'm also a photographer and videographer and thought it would be nice to open up my photography experience to nature.
On Monday I did my first trail run to Metberry Gulch. I whimped out at the big granite slab, though. I was alone, no winch, and just didn't want to risk getting stuck down there. The only person I saw the whole day was an Xcel employee going to inspect the Transmission line tower.
Here's a 360 Pano: https://viewer.hangar.com/360?assetId=/R0bDXAKj
I did hike down to the river though.
I drive a Scion xB as a daily, so the 28 year-old 4Runner mainly gets used for nature trips and on snow days. I don't have any big modification plans for it, but I might look for ways to improve it's capability on trails. It's mostly stock running 31" tires. Primarily, I'd just like to get out in the beautiful areas of the state we are so fortunate to live near.
P.S. I love old school forums. It's a shame Facebook came along and stole everyone's eyeballs. I used to run one of these for my business back in the mid-late 2000's.
