Default Trail recommendations in New Mexico

Headed to NM at the end of the month for some camping/wheeling/fishing. Not 100% decided yet on where exactly but probably either around Red River or farther south to Elephant Butte. Anyone have thoughts/recommendations? Any GPX tracks would be greatly appreciated!

Chokecherry is a nice area for sure, but I've been there twice before. Trying to do something new (new to me). Really leaning toward Elephant Butte.

Whatever you choose, I'm interested in hearing about it. We vacationed in that area for winter skiing nearly every year for a decade when we lived in TX. I've never been in the summer, but it should be a great, quiet area.
