Yea the badges from Jeep are a little 'cheap' auto-zone-ish even. I'm still trying to decide if I even want to put them on the Heep because of it.

I’ll be honest I don’t like putting things on my rig (ie stickers badges
and the like. I think rigs look nicer without them. But if someone has thier
rig all done up with what ever I just gotta smile because that’s what is great
about the whole 4x4 thing, it’s individual and unique and fun!!!!!

I'm interested for sure! I'll be able to commit about 2 weeks out, and will be camping. Thanks to everyone for putting this one together.
Gobbler can attest to my capabilities. We ran the gulches last season.

Yeah, for me just one trail run (probably Empire Loop on the 14th of July) and then the next will be Ouray trip! I am so stoked!!!! Make sure you all pack some swim wear! (For Sunday) I hear they completly refurbished the pool in Ouray. It was nice 3 years ago, can't imagine it now.

I thought this was pretty cool.

#1 small town to visit in USA is Telluride!

We need to nail down some GPS meeting points so we can get a planned trail run thread posted.

Yeah meet gps points for each morning and discuss trail time and time we want to spend in certain towns. You will like Ouray as well it will be nice that your staying there and can take time to walk mainstreet, the shops and resturants. I think on Sunday we could just make the meet point at the trail head of Imogene pass as we will be camping somewhere along Yankee boy basin or Govenor basin. We can decide who wants to do Black Bear or Imogene pass into Telluriade spending time there and returning back via Imogene pass.

This trip hs been in the making for 3 years since we took a family trip there mid July of 2015 while the Fj summit was going on. I am so ready for this trip!!!

Now I have a list of towns I want to visit! They all sound pretty good to me.

    JandD,

I'm interested in the Empire Loop Saturday. Will you be starting at Red Elephant Hill?

I need to go back and take a look at this whole thread. I'd love to make at least part of this. I'd be camping, at this point I don't think that's optional anyway.

Here is the itinerary for this trip to Ouray, so that if anyone can make it for all or part of the trip you will know where we will meet each day.

    Ouray trip Itinerary
    August 3rd-6th
Friday Aug. 3rd the plan is to be in Montrose Colorado by 11:00 am. @ the City Markey (128 S Townsend Ave) To gas-up and grab any odds and ends that anyone might have forgotten. Then leave for Ouray/trail head for Mineral creek/Engineer pass (Alpine Loop) scout along the way for somewhere to camp over night closer to Lake City once we makeit to Lake City check out the town then the ones who are camping can go back tocamp along Engineer pass for the night.

Saturday Aug. 4th the plan is to meet at the LakeFork Memorial Park in Lake City at 10:00 am.Once everyone who is expected to be there arrives we will take Cinnamon Pass (Wagner Gulch is a optional short trail (spur) along the way that leads to down to Carson Ghost town) into Animas Forks town site, from there we can go down through Eureka (ghost town site), through Howardsville down into Silverton(then drive up 550 back up to Ouray) or go up to Mineral Creek and back to Ouray open to what everyone wants to do from there is fine. Once up in the Ouray area those who are (car) camping will run up Yankee Boy Basin to find aspot to stay for the night (Governors Basin might be an option also for campingbut farther away from Ouray). We (I) will be camping in the same area Sunday night as well.

Sunday Aug. 5ththe plan is to meet in front of the Timberline Deli 803 Main St, Ouray, CO 81427 at 9:30 am. (Deli opens at 7 am.good place for breakfast very reasonable) 10:00 am. We can head down to run Black Bear pass down into Telluride and Imogene pass back to Ouray, (camping again inthe area that evening), We should have free time each evening for whatever in the town of Lake City and Ouray after we are done with the trails.

Monday Aug. 6th heading back from the trip. (if anyone wants to convoy back to the Denver area,I would like to be on the road by 10:00-11:00 am.)
Note; along the trails onthe first 2 days there are public bathrooms at various places along the trails.(Not sure if there are any along Black Bear and Imogene (there is one at theOuray side trail head of Imogene)

Hope others can come out for al or even part of the week end. (If there is any tweaking to doto this Itinerary we can discuss it further).
