Default Mild wheelin' this weekend 1/27 or 28

After a really long day wheelin last weekend this weekend will be something mild and close to home for me. Thinking Bunce, Dry St Vrain or Parachute Hill for just a few hours of playing in the snow. 7:30-10:30 or in that ballpark.

Anyone wanna play for just just a few hours this weekend?

What about Ballard Rd - its further north up near Poudre Canyon? I think its open year around. I've never run it summer or winter...wonder if its reasonable at this time or if it would be snow bashing?

Looks to be at least some bashing though not sure what it looks like this year.

Kind of thinking there won't be anywhere near that much snow this year? Although there is more snow to the north than to the south, and last sat/sun brought good snow to the front range areas around here (Denver).

Last Sunday afternoon I drove up the Poudre to Stove Prairie and back on Rist Canyon (a few miles north of where 44H heads west). Fresh snow dept was about 5 to 7 inches. 0.02

I saw some posts on Facebook from Ballard this past weekend, ~ 12" of fresh snow.

I should add - an upside (for wheeling) is that much of this snowfall was fluff vs heavy wet.

On my property (8500 feet elevation) there's a 4-6" blanket of snow that the Jeep easily navigated when aired down. This weekend I'm planning on staying close to home and just playing on a few local trails since it will likely still be a bit snowy/icy/muddy..

Either going to do Dry St Vrain, Bunce or Parachute Hill (on the west end of Johnny Park), all of which are about 30 minutes west of Lyons. My wife isn't allowing me to "go wheelin'" so I'm just getting out for a few morning hours of fun and that's it.....

If any of you local Longmont/Boulder/Loveland folks wanna join me, let me know! Otherwise I'm fine going solo .....

If it's not gonna be super deep, I'm interested to see how much my stock f150 can handle with the offroad tire chains... trucks lower clearance, but the chains have to be worth something

It's not deep, and conditions depend where we go. Probably won't need chains but good to have along. Dry St Vrain is lowest elevation (closest to Lyons) but not well travelled so could be more snowy. Bunce is very popular and will have been driven all over making snow not very likely but possibly more icy. Now Parachute Hill might require chains for you since it's the highest elevation -- but it's also closest to my house (Allenspark) so I'm down!!!!

but again, I can only get out for a few morning hours....

What do you guys think about just messing around up at Bunce Sunday morning for a couple of hours? I haven’t done Parachute is that one easy Matt?

Bunce works for me too! Parachute hill is right at the West entrance to Johnny Park. It's short but has some fun challenges and great views of Longs and Meeker peaks.

We got an inch of snow last night, so Bunce will probably have some snow. Do you guys want to meet at BUNCE SCHOOL Road and HWY 7 @ 7:30/8am tomorrow morning for a couple hours? Just realized Taco Chris mentioned Sunday morning..... either is fine with me.. Jake?

I should be able to do tomorrow (8 preferably - it'll take me over an hr to get out there), but either Sat or Sun is fine with me.

yah, I've got a 3 yr old at home, so getting out early and on time is difficult. 9am is better for me, too... just didn't want to cut too much outta Matt's AM allowance of time away from home

Count me in for a Sunday Bunce run! Never been in the snow but doesn't sound like it'll be too bad.
