Hi All,
I have a 99XJ (88 dana 44 rear axle ) with 4.5" off lift, I broke a rear shock and wondering if anybody has anything laying around?
Thanks,
Levi

I have 2 rough country shocks that are a bit used from my Cj that I just took off...Can you give me length dimensions that you are looking for (fully compressed and fully extended). Also what are the mount ends you need - these have both ends with old style open hole/eylet for a stud perpendicular to the shock body (common for leaf springs).

I have not measured, but online it says "Skyjacker SKA-H7058 (* 3-5" Lift) 24.84 14.82 10 Rear" . It has eyelets on both ends with a rod in the busing for the top mount. Like these http://supremesuspensions.com/product/1984-2001-jeep-cherokee-xj-full-extended-length-bilstein-extended-shocks-2wd-4wd-2/
Hi Levi - the ones I have are approximately 26" extended and 16" compressed as I can measure from center of eye to center of eye - so about an inch longer than the Skyjacker ones you mentioned. Mine are also multi-valved hydro shocks with no gas charge (same as the skyjackers). They have the rubber bushing eyelet on each end, but not the rod (maybe you can salvage those from the old broken one - if that isn't the broken part?). Mine are technically rough country, but as I have investigated these for my recent suspension project, I think many of these standard lift kit companies (rough country, pro-comp, skyjacker) use the same ones and just put their own sticker on it - they are all made in Mexico and many have exact same dimensions.
These are yours for free if you want them...they are used and both have some denting to the outside of the shock body at the top end (my old cj wasn't designed with quite enough clearance from the axle for these modern wide body shocks and they sometimes rub) but no fluid leaking and the piston moves smoothly up and down except for a just a bit of roughness at the last inch or so of compression. If you are in need and on a tight budget they would probably work if you can get the mounting stud.

I believe I have a new set of the bushings and the little bars from when I did shocks on ZJ. I will check later today to see if I held on to them.

I would take them off your hands James.
Levi - I see you are in Thornton, maybe you work further south? I live a bit south but still Denver proper (near I25 and Yale Ave) - can meet you in that area. Or I can meet you on the southwest side or west side of town (Littleton up to Golden area) as I work on that side. let me know - shoot me a pm.

Hi James,
Thank for putting the shocks out yesterday, it was so close to my office, I was able to go and pick them up on my lunch break. I appreciate it and really hope they will work for the xj.

I know they aren't perfect and new...but hopefully they should work for a while. If not, don't worry...I was just going to dispose of them anyway (or put them on a high shelf and let them collect dust for years and then dispose of them). Good luck - hope you can get the mounting studs.

I know I have the bushings somewhere although I have been unable to locate them. I did find out I do not have the bars that go through them. I guess we scrapped our pile of old shocks and we used the new ones on my ZJ. If you want the bushings I will find them this weekend.

Cliff if you find the bushings, I would love to have them. I did find a bar, a friend had one.
