Default Fall creek then Cascade Creek snow wheelin 1.7.18

Had a fun run today and ended up doing a trail we weren't expecting to. Met at Fall River road and headed up up thru blowing snow until the trail to Yankee hill started. It was just a short ways up when the snow got so deep we were having trouble and a hill ahead of us told us to turn around.

Well we came to wheel and it was just 11am so Brandon suggested Cascade creek, which is one of the trails in the Spring Creek area that I originally posted about. This turned out to be fun! It basically got narrower and snowier the higher we went. At one section Brandon cruised right up in the JKU beast and then Aaron in his modified Toyota beast got close to the top of the hill but started spinning and spinning. After many tries and great persistence he topped the icy hill. Then Adams YJ gave it a go and same thing, the top of the hill was super slick and after trying and trying he backed off to the side and I took my TJ straight up the hill no problem (lockers engaged ). The Elephant wasn't able to squeeze by the YJ so he waited while Adam strapped chains on the rear tires and then cruised right up without issues.

The Elephant cruised right up behind Adam and had no issues either, Wow! Kurtis was the last in line and had no problems so far..... But then next hill proved to be steeper and icier and caused a lot more problems. Brandon of course cruised right up lickity-split. Then Aaron ran up the hill but the big 37" tires just started spinning on the ice and he tried and tried but eventually backed off to the side and got stuck in the snow. I passed along side and cruised right up the icy hill no problem, man I love this Rubi and the front and rear lockers!!

Adam cruised up the icy hill no problem also (chains on) and then Phillip tied up to Aaron to pull him out but started spinning and the ice made it impossible for the Elephant to go any further. He turned back and headed down, not wanting to push too hard.

Then Aaron got yanked out from behind by Kurtis and then he tried getting more momentum up this icy hill but got stopped again half way up, all 4 tires spinning on the icy hill. Adam backed the YJ down tied up and pulled Aaron most of the way up the hill but then he got stuck in a snowy spot so I backed down and hooked up to Adam and we all pulled up and over the hill!!! But now Kurtis had to make it up and try and try as he might, he ended up just spinning tires --- I'm telling you if he would have aired down to 10-12 psi like I did he wouldn't have had as much trouble!! Luckily his winch was able to pull him up and we all continued up. We only drove another half mile to an instersection for Saxxon mountain and we decided it was time to turnaround (3pm-ish).

The drive down down was slick but fun and no issues for anyone. Had a really good time and great meeting you all!!!

Here are some videos I shot and you can see just how slippery it was!!

YES IT WAS SLIPPERY -watch this!

Ill post a few pics also after compressing them! Hopefully someone else got some pics and/or videos also!

thanks again for coming out today guys, can't wait to do it again

Nice guys! Glad everyone had a great time. I like that area. But not sure I would have done very well! With all that snow.

Default sunday jan 7 saint marys....oops

so we joined the group for Sunday, with the original plan to try to get up the back side of Yankee hill.....not so much.

The group, 4 jeep, a Yota, and an Elephant.
After some vac line repairs we made our way up hill to attempt Yankee hill.
as mine was the biggest and seems folks like me to lead, we didnt get far.
the up hill climb in bumper deep snow stopped Bruser.

the dessision was made to turn us around and go to the south side of I70.
    Off to Cascade creek.
this was a better option by far.
Less wind and blowing drifting snow.
mind you it is icy in patches as the sun hits this for a short time.

me in the lead again as most the crew has no idea where we are going.
snow was light and minimal at the start.
as we made our way up it did get deeper fast.
Bruser makes short work of most this trail in the snow, 4 hi and off we go.
the poor little Yota behind me didnt seem to be able to bite down into the snow when needed. maybe to light.
spinning and sliding woo hoo good times.
a few spot made the rest of the group do some work.
    Adam chainded up the YJ
the elephant made most the day.
The Yota took the strap with 2 jeep to pull him up the steep section that was now very slick.....
Kurtis needed the winch to clear this as it was very slick.
Got to be a bad feeling to slide backwards with no control!
At this point Phil made the right dessision to call it for the dy.
heavy truck with IFS and open front LSD rear was not going to make it with out the strap.
good on you Phil for not tearing up your truck!
After getting Kurtis up to the top of the steep section we were less than a mile from the conectoer to the top of saxon mtn and the 2 others trails up top.

this was near 3 pm so as I had no intentions of a winch fest tell late we took some pics and off we want to head down.
IN all was a good day.
not to cold, and just a little work with the ropes.

pics....not from me as I was tending crew and rope.
but there are pics to come!

    Thanks guys for understanding!!
I knew I was already pushing kinda hard for the cooling system, bottom hose.
Was able to get farther in low rpm's than I thought I was going to get, so I was very happy and satisfied !!
I agree Brandon, when I got down and airing up, I checked it and sure enough it did pop again.
Still not completely burst but I know there will not be anymore wheeling for the Elephant till I get new hoses, clamps and flush.
But this run and these people ........... always worth the fun !!!!!!!!!!
