I am looking to run on Sunday.

Matt- spring Creek might be open.
Part of it anyhow. The shelf road will be snowy and shaded.
So pass there as it's a nasty tumble to the river by I-70.

We were just up near saint Mary's 2 weeks ago it's nice up there.

Will look in later today to see what's up.

"Hey Adam, I saw your post too. We haven't really nailed down a route and was curious if you're familiar with the trails south of I70 near Idaho Springs: Spring Creek, Silver creek, South Spring Gulch, Cascade Creek, Griffin Mt & Woodchuck spur, Saxon Mt. I know some of these are probably closed but most are open year round depending on snow. Here's a link to the most challenging one that shows the others on the map also. This wouldn't be that long of a drive for me to get to (1.5 hours) and I haven't done any of these and would be down for checking any of them out (not just the hard one)..... I've done all the trails north of I70 and was trying to think of something new that isn't 3 hours just to get to

Ok .....Hmmmmmm...... Well, I'd like to check out SPRING CREEK and my understanding is that SILVER CREEK starts at the same place and is much easier, just in case SPRING CREEK is sketchy (although it appears there are bypasses for all of the obstacles). It would be cool to make it to the top of SPRING CREEK and then take the road west and run a few of the other trails (Griffin Mt & Woodchuck Spur) and then take one of those back to Idaho Springs (Cascade or South Spring Gulch).

Anyone else interested in checking SPRING CREEK out on Sunday morning?

Otherwise we can go back to my original idea of BUNCE SCHOOL/IRONCLADS, DRY ST.VRAIN and/or MILLER ROCK up in the northern sections of Peak-to-Peak Hwy.

Looks like we have a few folks interested so y'all let me know your thoughts

Is everyone dialed in for Sunday? I can't do Sunday, since I have to be at Barr lake at 1pm for work.

But I might be interested in some wheeling if anyone is still looking at a Saturday Run.

I was kinda hoping for something up in your area Matt but only because I have to be in Boulder later Sunday afternoon. I might be up for somewhere else though too.

Can't go Saturday, sorry man! Let's connect here tomorrow to see where everyone is at. I'd like to check out Spring Creek but I don't mind staying closer to Boulder either.

Hey Tyler.... I'd be up for a Saturday run
Maybe go up the back side of Yankee hill...
You know how to get to St Marry's Alice ?
Use that exit, and we could meet there

That sounds like a blast! But it turns out, I spoke too soon. Something came up and I can't go Saturday either.
Maybe next weekend? I bet there's a lot more snow on on the Yankee Hill area. Good thing you've got ground clearance again!

At that exit is real large pull off that makes for a great place to meet but not to air down yet, till you get up on the dirt road that leads up hill to the trails.
That will be a fun trip all sun on Alice side and probably not much snow, if any going over to lead out tward Central City
Good run.....what time will you be able to make it ??

Yeah, the ground clearance makes big difference for sure, but I do miss the lockers -n- such
So I am going for it......rear lockers for the Elephant and a little more lift, and armor

Are you guys posting this on the Calendar? It would lead to less confusion as there are 2 diff. days being talked about here? Not that I can go busy both days but it would be bad if someone showed on the wrong day?

I finally posted the calendar event for this, meet at I70 Fall River Rd exit at 930am and then go explore the trails

I don't know this area well and didn't realize there are quite a few trails to explore so I'm excited!!!!!

Hi guys. So to answer some questions... Spring creek would not be a good idea but for the most adventurous of us . If its even open this late it will be very treacherous and the elephant will likely take body damage on the one non by passable obstacle even in the best of conditions. The fall river road area is getting deeper and deeper in snow due to its altitude and relation to the divide. The fall river res run up rainbow road is probably doable due to common traffic but its the normal time for it to get snow bound as well. Jenny creek is out of the question . I am a guy that will spend 24 hrs making 40 full pulls to complete a trail and my son and I were turned around 3/4 of the way thru weeks ago. Pickle is most likely impassable due to the north facing part of the shelf road just prior to the mine tailing hill climbs. Probably enough open area around Yankee for another days worth but another good snow will likely end that. Bunce area is usually one of the last areas to get snowed in around due to its lack of elevation change, sun exposure and traffic. I may break thru from the central city side in the morning and meet you guys can't promise. If not be safe and have fun. As always if trouble dont hesitate to give a shout. I'm always on call.

I was going to say the same thing. A couple of years ago (this time of year My first snow experience was from the fall river road side. Didn't get even half way up the hill with chains on.
