I wouldn't think there'd be much snow, but I think I'll call the Forest Service tomorrow to confirm this will be open this weekend before posting it up!

[QUOTE=I would be up for GORDON GULCH, CARIBOU, RAINBOW LAKES or one of these Nederland area trails this weekend, since I missed the last time (So did Tom).... I'm pretty sure GORDON is open year round just in case because the others have seasonal gates closed and would be good to have a backup plan.

    Thoughts?[/QUOTE]

You bet! We're down for whatever. I'm not yet familiar enough the these trails to have a preference. Sunday would work better of us. This Saturday I need to install a 3rd seat in back for my boy (9 years old). Will probably need to drop the gas tank to make that happen.

If that works, let me know when and where and we'll see you there!

Gordon Gulch imo is kindof lame. Much prefer Johnny and Pierson Parks.

I wasn't able to call forest service today but will tomorrow and get a few options for this weekend. I suggested Nederland area trails since the new guy wants to stay close to home for now..... I'd really like to do Caribou starting in Eldora and go all the way to Rainbow Lakes, if it'll be open.

Sunday works for me as well.

Tom maybe on Saturday we could run Johnny Park if the Forest Service says it'll be open.....

ill report back back tomorrow after speaking to someone (hopefully someone answers the phone)

Well I just checked forest service website and Caribou to Rainbow Lakes is closed now, looks like they just closed all Nederland area routes. Johnny Park, both Pierson Park roads, Pole Hill and most trails north are open.

Kelly Flats anyone? . Always wanted to do this one and it says it's still open... I've heard this is not for the novice wheelers

if if nothing else, Bunce/Ironclads or Johnny Park/Pierson or even Pole Hill would be good options.....

If you end up doing Kelly Flats, you might consider tacking on Sevenmile Creek.

I really enjoyed Seven Mile. Kelly Flats had me a bit nervous. If it is wet up there I would not enjoy it, but I am pretty new to all of this.

Alex and I ran Kelly on the 18th. South side pretty dry but North pretty slick. Of course that may have changed by now. Following, want to get out myself.

If you had narrower axles you wouldn't have to do all that crawling along the sides of the trail
Maybe with the new BDS leafs going in I might be able to achieve 10% of that flex.

Unfortunately it looks like most of the forest service roads will be officially "closed" as of Friday this week. The Boulder office told me that if Johnny Park gate is open after DEC 1st its ok to drive on it.... HOWEVER, the Canyon Lakes District (who actually manages the gating of Johnny Park) told me that even if they don't have the gate closed, it is OFF LIMITS as of Dec 1st.

So, looks like this weekend's wheelin' options are quite limited.

This being said, I STILL WANT TO GET OUT!!!!! BUNCE SCHOOL/IRONCLADS is open year round so that is an option, although I'd rather do something else since I live near Bunce.

I don't know if KELLY FLATS is gated and when it will be closed, but I believe I heard the "gulches" are open year round (could be wrong on that).

Anyone know what trails will for sure be open this weekend?

Bummer and here I am getting my oil changed so I could run it earlier on Sat.

Sounds like Ironclads, Bunce, Switzerland and Gordon Gulch are the options till spring. I am in for a saturday on any or all.

Tom, do you know if Pennsylvania Gulch is open year round? I don't recall there being a gate although I could be wrong. Its right off of Switzerland trail and it's a fun one (steep & rutty) and would make a good addition to doing Switzerland trail from either direction

According to my trail guide, Penn Gulch is open all year. If anyone is game, we’d be down for that.

It is a fun trail. I have only run it once and don’t recall seeing any gates. There is a bit of private land or mining clains up there so maybe it has to stay open.
