    Default 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Off-Road Review

Crawling in Bangs Canyon! I think this is the best OEM offroad truck available, and FOURWHEELER just did a big write up on it and says it "outclasses the Tacoma" in everyway. Maybe...

The shocks are unique, Multimatic DSSV: http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/cha...ltimatic-dssv/

One of these has been at the moab campground I have been at. Got the duramax. 4 door short bed with high rack and rooftop goodies. Guessing it has additional lift. Looks minimum to be 33s with lots of clearance. Cool rig.

Didn't get any pics of it - but I did go take a closer look at this morning. Was running 285/70R17s (about 33s) and probably could have fit taller - guessing it was lifted a bit. Overall, looks great - just like the review Paul posted. I like the good approach angle on the front and the front bumper valence is opened-up and raised signgificantly immediately in front of the tires. Also really like the rocker skids - look solid. The diesel ran quiet whenever it idled past my campsite - not sure how loud it ran at rpm. Just like my Taco - the rear bed overhang is an issue and the stock rear bumper doesn't look sturdy (probably to meet crash safety standards). The big difference from my Taco I noticed from just looking at it is the rear shock mounts - they hang very low (lower than the axle Ubolt ends which are unprotected, and equally as low as the bottom of the differential housing) and they are mounted inboard of the leaf springs. Between the diff housing, ubolt ends and the shock mounts, its kind of like a wall of low hanging stuff between the leafs. Looking at my Taco - the shock mounts are higher than the U-bolts, and the Ubolts ends are somewhat protected by a skid section of the spring plate. Additionally, the shocks are mounted outside of the leafs, and at angle such that the bottom of the shock mount is directly above and protected by the wheel hub area. The toyota rear axle is much cleaner with much less stuff hanging down and exposed below the axle shaft housing.

I find it funny that Chevy is buying an engine from FIAT.
That diesel engine is not an Duramax.
It's made by Matori in Italy.
    Nice engine rebadged for Chevy.

    Nice they made a change.....
They we're going to be buying from Matori engines.

Better for Chevy they build them on their own.
Will have to do some reading up on there efforts.

Side note......ter 5 emission is to be coming sooner than anticipated, no more DEF and no more particulate filter.

    Right.

Now for the EGR, if you want to keep this from opening and get some performance add a water/methonal kit. Nice way to drop cylinder temps, clean things up some, and add power(not much but any helps) add water meth to you diesel!

I thought propane injection for the power would be nice.

Had a home built water injection on a 390 That was in a F150. It was amazing the difference in sound when water was added to the tank, calmed it down right away.

Same thing with what you mention, plus a little added BTU content from the methanol along with the anti-icing properties. I couldn’t run mine in the winter since it would freeze.

Ya winter time sucks but it is worth using with the diesels.

Propane is nice if you can find d a good one any more.
It will be interesting to see what they do.
