That reads much better than i was fearing.
It get a power soft top.....Grrrr really!
Then again most Jeep's sold now days are mall crwaling pavment pounders.
The 360 some horse power sounds nice.

I like how the windshield folds down and there is still an A-pillar.
Looks awesome!! I hope the pickup is the same thing with a bed.
Just looks like a more ergonomic JK. I doubt they butcher the Wrangler any time soon because they realize the cult following behind them. This article seems to only focus on the aesthetics which is important but just because it's pretty doesn't mean it's good. I heard rumors that they were all going to be IFS except the Rubicons can anyone confirm this? It looks like you can swap between JK and JL parts which would be smart of jeep to do but who knows with them any more.
No IFS. That is a rumor every time a new model comes out but so far it has not happened.
look out yankee hill and slaughterhouse. soon there will be thousands of jl's headed your way lol

UG LY!
so glad we grabbed a 2017 JKU. looks so smooth and not rugged! the 2-door looks fine, but that 4-door...yuck.
although, the line about top/doors/windshield options is intriguing.

I'm sure there will be a lot of people who love the JL....I don't see myself being one of 'em. I don't complain about the mall crawlers, lights and angry grills. Those sales keep the companies in business that make and sell the parts I need.
There are some photos in this article that I haven't seen yet (https://www.caranddriver.com/photo-g...tos-gallery#17). One of the photos shows a cantilevered soft top. The rear and side window panels go away, and the top extends over the back end. Interesting.

I think there are some new/good things. But that dash is just plain ugly IMO.
Hey I have a jeep question. How many people still fold down their windshield? I know it's a throwback to the original and part of the Jeep thing. Is it still needed? Doesn't it just create design and weight issues at this point?
I do as often as I can (2 - 4x per season perhaps???).
When I do - I prefer to either be first or waaaaaayyyyy back because of dust in the face.

Aside from maintenance, I rarely fold mine down. There have however been 2 occasions over the years where the ability to fold it down was the only thing that saved it from damage. In spite of the potential problems, I still think it is a valuable feature.

I have never folded mine down on any of my jeeps over the years other than when needed for maintenance or work etc. We have such variable weather in the mountains I like a little weather protection and I generally have the bimini top on and it needs the groove on the top of the windshield frame to mount to. I do have a front hoop rollbar and I guess I could figure out some sort of connection to that but I am fine with the top off and windshield up. Maybe one day when I know the weather is guaranteed nice such as in Moab I might try a run with it down. I think its more a heritage and selling point than a functional thing at this point - of course the new one looks to have the winshield fold down but leave the A-pillar etc - so if its easy enough then it might be useful.
