    Default Red Cone Sat 9/16

    Red Cone Sat 9/16

I put meeting time and place as 9am at Conoco in Bailey - but that can be modified if needed. I would like to be locked in, aired down, carbs adjusted, timing reset, dwell checked (no not really) and climbing uphill at 10am. Additionally, this is a bit weather dependent, so the early start is good, but if the weather forecast suggests something ugly things may change - don't need any additional issue on the RC descent like wet rocks.

Honestly, I am thinking I will be good to go up RC and then down Webster, either side and call it a day - those with trailers may want to return to Grant, but others may want to continue on to Radical Hill etc.

FWIW - I am a bit nervous on this one....

Starting to look at the weather for high elevations on sat - looks to be cool (if not cold) and windy and possible snow flurries. Guessing the flurries is more just some flakes in the air, and even that is only 20% or so. Sunday looks to have better weather...not ready to change just yet...and there is another run already scheduled for sun...just food for thought...

I still have the top on the jeep. Perfect, warm weather would be nice but it doesn't look to be the case this weekend. Master cylinder is in my hands - likely to be installed this afternoon (work depending).

It's a high area, lightning is always a concern. If switching to Sunday gives you peace of mind it will give you a better experience. No problem having multiple runs on the same day, wish it happened every weekend!

If Sunday is a better time I am good with that. We will be camping up there. I usually prefer Saturday runs in case there are issues, it gives me a day to deal with things.

I think I might be in for Sunday. My steering box is leaking. So I'm looking I to replacing it with a 98 Durango box. I found one on Craigslist that says it was replaced before he started parting out. If I can get a hold of it and replace it on Saturday, then I think I'm up for R.C.

Weather forecast is trending for the better, and it wasn't really bad to begin with. So keeping the plan the same - meet at 9:00 am at the Conoco in Bailey. If anyone is taking a trailer (I think Louis is a maybe)...feel free to continue along to the trailer parking at the trailhead. If it somehow decides to snow a bunch tonight, we'll adjust and have fun anyway.

Getting pretty exited about this one.
