Okay, it's done. What's everyone think?
I stepped outside here in Aurora and the neighborhood comments ranged from "over-hyped" to "I feel cheated" to "pretty cool"

Meh.
I enjoyed it - took my students out to see it. The difference in brightness and feel of solar radiation on the skin was noticeable over about 30 mins. Of course, 93% is a far cry from totality - its not even close since it doesn't really get dark otherwise. I am also a geologist/physicist and teacher - so its right up my alley. I hope to experience the full eclipse in 2024.

Just looking around - meh - but then looking at it - very cool.
Some photo sensor light came on at my place.
5pm - I-25 is packed - southbound
I heard that I-25 from FoCo to Cheyenne took 2 hours (normally about a 30 min trip).
over-hyped. At least got to waste 15 minutes of class having my professor looking up what time it was so he made sure we wouldn't miss it.
kind of like when my dog walks past the TV.
Liked the shadows the tree leaves made. Like dozens of pin hole cameras. Kind of cool.

It was cooler than I thought it would be. I shared the day with my almost 6 year old, she was stoked. She said she wanted it to be dark here like the places on TV.

I thought it was fun watching the moon creep infront of the sun, the change in temperature chased me outa the pool though.....
Yes, it was nice experience
I think the best part was seeing all the the folks who never get to see each other, standing in the parking lot talking to each other...

It was cool in 79 (when I was 13)... Not that interesting today.

Here is a gorgeous image taken by a friend with a serious set up for his camera.
My family and I were at Glendo, WY on the centerline of totality. It was an amazing, fabulous experience, but words fail me in describing it. I don't think it can be directly compared to any other natural phenomena, at least not any that I'm aware of.
The weak light from the crescent sun near totality was eerie. It was about the strength of a winter sunset but strangely was from almost overhead. The temperature steadily dropped as totality was neared.
During the 2-1/2 minutes of totality it was dark enough to see some stars, the temperature dropped enough to be a bit uncomfortable in shorts and t-shirt, and crickets started chirping. The sun's corona was magnificent and extended twice the diameter of the sun in some directions. A look with binoculars at the corona clearly showed striations in it. We also saw a very high flying jet chasing along the totality path, presumably one from NASA.
In pre-scientific ages people were terrified by eclipses, and I can appreciate that because it could easily seem like the life-giving sun was being destroyed, until the end of the totality phase.
I was just using a point and shoot, this is the best one I got from Denver. Not much of an experience from here, but from what I've seen of totality it looks pretty cool and I think it's on my list for 2024. You can start planning now... https://www.usatoday.com/story/trave...pse/591923001/
It was OK. I took these in the parking lot at work in Evergreen. Best part was sharing my glasses with others so they could look as well.
