Default Seeking use of a shop

    Hi all

Thought I would put this out there in the hopes that I might luck out. I'm a farm girl without a shop--and it's the worst! I grew up driving older pickups that I learned to maintain myself. Once in awhile, a mechanic is needed, though there is much I can manage on my own (especially with the help of youtube and forums). I have a decent set of tools, though am lacking the space and specialised tools (and proper supervision--I learn as I go sometimes)

I seemed to have hit a stride of back luck since moving to Fort Collins, and have a few minor repairs and projects that I would like to work on rather than fork over good money to a shop. I drive a 99 GMC Sierra, am the 2nd owner, and friends with the original owner. This pickup has been maintained exceptionally well, though am looking at fixing exhaust manifold leak. A full tune up. Tie rods. nothing massive though would rather do the work myself as it doesn't seem economical to pay labor rates given it's an older pickup.

I would be happy to pay a reasonable amount for shop time. Beer and pizza. Sweep/clean/organise. Lend a hand on projects. Basically, anything so that the transaction is fair. Having moved up to the area, I really don't know too many people yet, hence thought I would seek out a forum and see if there was anyone in the NoCO area that might have a shop to spare.

I ought to mention that I operate with a personal sense of integrity, I treat others property better than my own. Wouldn't dream of hauling off with tools, etc. Hoping to make some good friends and perhaps work on my ol gal, and in turn sort out a fair trade.

Feel free to send me a p.m. and we can go from there. Thanks for your consideration

    Kimberly

Sounds like this would be a good fit for you, the prices are reasonable and they have tools and help available.

My experience with DIY was ok. I used them a few times when I was downtown.

Their fees add up quickly, I found myself standing around waiting to get someone to raise or lower the lift for me (it's really frustrating to not be allowed to do this), and it was not great when you didn't have everything or you were sold the wrong parts.

It's good for people with small tasks, but not very feesable at all for someone with a project car and all that comes with it.

It seems one broken bolt could add up pretty quick.
