Has anyone here run these trails? I would be interested, but know little about them. I have watched a few videos, that is the extent of my knowledge.

jamie this is a great area but I think you need some more trail time before getting into this.
just my thoughts asvyou expressed a little anxiety on MSV/Cooney.
now with the right group of northern members you will have a great time and learn tons.
you rig is well done its just your comfort level.
I would like to run these, but this weekend is a no as we are super busy at work, so I have to work.

Yeah I am working too. I had initially looked at trails more in the Northern part of the state, mostly because it is closer to me. Anything in Poudre Canyon, Big Thompson that anyone would like to plan in the next month or so?
I would be happy to take you as I have done both trails. Can't guarantee that Crystal Mountain will be open. First year it was closed, last year open. Fun part for you (I'll watch) is the quarry where you can go up some vertical walls.

Jamie go with Sean.
Good eyes and he has the experience.
You 2 will have fun.

Go. Moody was bladed a year or two back - MUCH easier since the blade job. `don't know what it's like this season though.
The quarry - just go and watch and enjoy
Crystal - is it open????
Jamie (July 19th, 2017)
According to USDA WEBSITE Crystal is open.
Jim (July 14th, 2017)
the fun parts of crystal are closed. the trail crosses a lease and leasee has a legal gate that blocks the trail. last i heard there was talk of trying to get access via another route but i havent heard anything lately. the main part of moody is now pretty easy. have seen a motor home make it to the quarry last october. the main climb at the quarry really isn't that bad once you know the line. i know mike (newracer) has gone up it in his stock jkur.
Jamie (July 19th, 2017)
Like already said Moody is now very easy, basically a steep dirt road. Crystal isn't even worth going to, it's only about 1/2 mile of dirt road to the gate at the state land that you cannot cross.
Depending on when you go I might join.
Sevenmile Creek is another trail in the area that is not too difficult.

sevenmile is up the poudre but the trailhead is near Rustic. which is a fair bit before you get to chambers. ballard rd is a few miles farther down buckhorn road past crystal/moody. old flowers goes from stove prairie(which is halfway between buckhorn road and poudre canyon) over to pingree park. both flowers and ballard are pretty easy.

kelly flats is another option. theres a couple challenging spots but overall its not too difficult. its a fairly long trail at 12+ miles.

Kelly is easy enough that Alex and I ran it forwards and backwards today in under 4 hours and we spent an hour at the Chutes.
I hate Greenridge. No challenge, no scenery, stinky mud, lots of small annoying rocks.

Hey Sean do you want to pick a date and a trail?
