Friday 6/30- West Magnolia & Gross Reservoir

Friday at 3:00 or so we're going to run West Magnolia south to north and then take Magnolia to Gross Reservoir / Winiger Ridge. These are both easy and fun trails with mining ruins, farm lands and the reservoir. It's a beautiful and fun run, lots of photo ops. it's posted.

So just so anyone who's thinking of joining up knows, the "plan" so far is more about seeing stuff than wheeling. My wife is coming along, and she's going through PT for her back so nothing too rough. There is a loop spur off West Magnolia that were going to skip, 512 & 109; it's just a flat tight run through trees that loops back through some ruts you straddle and a single drop off. It's not bad, just not this time. We do want to hike to the Mill for pics, its been a few years since we saw it last. Then run around the camping areas for a minute, cross 119 to Magnolia down to Gross Reservoir. Gorgeous road, and good to know for winter driving, it's fun when covered. At Gross we just want to do 359 to the end, go to the reservoir for pics, and head back out. The side road, 97, is just more camping and dead ends with a big rutted section.

So all scenery, no backache is the goal.

Just added RSVPs to the run post, but those don't always mean much so be aware that we're not waiting around the meetup for more than a few minutes. Its a weekday, sometimes these are last minute decisions and that's cool, just be a maybe if you're not sure or don't RSVP at all, just show up.

Glad we're doing Gross Reservoir, over the next couple of years they're raising the dam by 131' to store more water on the north side, which should submerge the trails, parking area and the existing camping areas by the reservoir. Gentrification needs water...
