Jim - feel free to edit/move/delete this however you feel is best:

Attached at the bottom is a pdf of our official Adopt-a-road agreement with the FS, and the text is copied below into the thread text. Thought it might be helpful to post what we officially agree to. thanks

    2018 ADOPT A ROAD AGREEMENT
    Arapaho National Forest
    Clear Creek Ranger District

Group Name: Front Range 4x4 Club- James Orofino-Group Leader
Location: Barbour Fork and Devils Canyon Areas
    Road Numbers: 194, 246

    1. The Group agrees to:

    1. Schedule at least two trips per field season to complete monitoring, education, trash pickup and various other projects as planned by Forest Service. Notify the Forest Service by phone, mail, email, or in person at least 10 days prior to the trip, furnishing a schedule of work and a list of all persons who will be working.
    2. Provide necessary adult supervision and leadership for the group.
    3. Follow safety standards according to the Forest Service Health and Safety Code Handbook which includes the wearing Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) of hard hats, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and boots as necessary when completing volunteer projects.
    4. Ensure volunteers have no medical condition(s) which would adversely affect their ability to participate.
    5. Provide a record of volunteer names, number of hours worked (including travel time to and from project), and work accomplished for each trip/volunteer day on the adopted road to the Forest Service before September 30th each year.
    6. Know where private land exists in the area and respect private landowner rights.

    1. The Forest Service agrees to:

    1. Schedule an evaluation trip with the volunteer group at the beginning of the summer season to assess road and project needs.
    2. Provide maintenance standards, training, technical advice, guidance, and inspection as necessary.
    3. Furnish hard hats and other special work tools and materials when available and needed.
    4. Provide appropriate recognition by installing a small sign at the trailhead indicating that the road is being maintained by your group under the Adopt-a-Road Program.

    1. It is understood by both parties that:

    a. The group does not expect reimbursement for incidental expenses.
    b. Any improvements constructed on the National Forest will become the property of the United States.
    c. Decisions about maintenance will remain the responsibility of the Forest Service. No major work will be completed without first consulting the Forest Service.
    d. This agreement is supplemental to the form, "Volunteer Services Agreement for Natural Resources Agencies (OF301a)" that needs to be completed prior to adopting a road.

Maybe it is time for a quick early run up these with the FS?

Brandt will have his trail crew up there a couple days before it opens on 6/15 and will let us know if there is anything unusual, but he has no major work plans etc. Here are his email comments:

The gates are scheduled to open on June 15th so hopefully the weather will allow. Me and my crew will likely be in there the week before opening to remove downed trees etc.
I have two new crew members this year, so please let me know as soon as you have some dates for work days. I will need some time to prepare and train my new guys so the sooner you can let me know your plans, the better.
I don’t have any specific projects planned for those areas, but when the areas open up and we are able to get in there, we will assess the situation.
I look forward to working with you guys again in 2018.

I told him we are tentatively planning on clean-ups in mid-July and Sept - but if he would like a run in June after opening to just let me know. Think it will depend on if their assessment suggests some additional work would be needed to get it open, and he doesn't expect any concerns at this time. At the same time though, we could ask if they want or would allow us (or a small group) to go up with them for an assessment around opening.

A benefit for a few folks joining them on an initial look* would be to have extra folks check out some of the dead ends / alternate routes, meeting up for status before leaving the trail for the day.

    * my assumption is that they don't check out ALL of the spurs and options though perhaps they do.
