i have a cabin in the area, there are a lot of trails and great camping spots up and down 77.

I too did not get many pictures.

    Heading out, Northbound on 77.

    Here's a short video.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mw3eXMzINs

While I'm mostly stock, the ~250# of plate steel and 1/4" boxed crossmember make me braver than I probably should be. I finally put the stock rock rails to work too, they held up a bit better than I expected.

It was a ton of fun, and it was great running with you all again. It was also great meeting so many new faces.

Looks like a blast, love the pix! Jackie, your video says private. I hope she goes with you this weekend! That buggy looks like a blast.

So bummed I had to miss it (had signed up for the Denver Century Ride months ago). Going to miss next weekend, too (Bike MS). Poop.

    Hi GPP33
I have never seen bead pop. And none of wish to experience it either.
    What PSI were you at?
Can you attribute it to anything?
I ask so many of us newcomers can possibly avoid this situation
    Thanks in advance
    Chris

I was at 11 PSI. Never had it happen to me (always run 10 to 12 psi on the trail) but have been on plenty of trail runs where it has to others. You can get a tire to “burp” some air without actually breaking the bead too, I have had that happen. The ways to minimize the chances of it happening are to run higher pressure, run narrower rims and I’ve heard aluminum rims don’t hold the bead as well so steel rims maybe. I’ve always run steel rims until I bought these tires which came on these rims. They are aluminum and are wider than my steel rims. At the end of the day though this happened because I was on the wrong line and really stressing the outside of the tire, I was off camber to the right, turning to the left and when I came up the rock I lifted the front drivers and rear passenger tires which loaded the heck out of the tire that blew. It’s really pretty rare and doesn’t hurt anything unless you manage to slam the rim into a rock.
The real solution to prevent it is actually sitting in the corner of my garage, just need to drum up the motivation to do a bunch of grinding, welding and bolt tightening.

The broken bead was definitely a highlight of the day and I'll make it a point to come back and update the thread with some cool pics.
Hopefully your new bendy bits don't cost too much to replace.

No Benjamin’s were forfeited in the repair of the bendy bits.

    All better, I love hydraulics:

Bendy bits convinced with hydraulics! Very cool to hear no harm done. (edit: to the wallet)

Nice repair work. Great pics. I'll get my son to shoot pics over to me from us hanging out there at the turn around point.
