Near the top of Heart Attack Hill concrete was installed years ago to prevent excessive erosion and keep the trail open. Over the last couple of years the area at the bottom of the concrete has washed away creating a significant ledge. People were starting to go around the ledge so it needed to be corrected. Last weekend my club, The Mountaineers, per request of the Forest Service filled in the ledge with rocks and concrete. It took two days as the amount of concrete needed was grossly underestimated. We ended up using 3,350 lbs of concrete, 80 gallons of water, 60 feet of rebar, 30 square feet of wire mesh, and lots of rocks.
