2012 jk.
Noticed it yesterday. I scanned for codes with my obdii tool. Nothing came up.
Any ideas as to cause or fix?

Can you clear the KAM?
What is the KAM

the Keep Alive Memory in the computer. If you can clear that and it goes away, likely a glitch. If it comes back I would start looking at wires to sensors related to the issue or sensors themselvs. Not too updated on that type of system but it may give you somewhere to start. Hope this helps.

Obvious question: Can you turn it off (think it has to be in 4-HI for the control to work)?

Apparently if your steering wheel is no longer centered it can lead to issues? I know several of my vehicles would be throwing a fit!

Steering wheel is centered. Followed web instructions to clear the memory and it didn't. Got in the vehicle this am and started toward work. Light was on. Noticed I didn't have my card key. Went home and shut the vehicle off. Got my card key.
When I restarted it the light was off and stayed off all the way to work.
Hopefully it will continue to stay off.

What's a card key? Same as a 'chip' key?

Problem on mine has always been a issue with the wiring underneath. Once was a broken wire, and the other time was an issue with a sensor. Both were fixed under warranty, so I couldn't tell you exactly where the issue was.
