    Default The "Jeep Wave"

So true. Even though I don'e have a Jeep, just a little gesture like in the video could go a long way with someone having a bad day. I always try and give someone passing me on the trail the peace sign

The jeep wave is alive and well amongst old cjs! Think it started dying with square headlights and then the JKs killed it. Or maybe its just and old vehicle thing. If the top is off, I am more likely to get a wave from a harley these days than a jk. Probably doesn't matter in the city - but its nice in rural and trail riding areas.

In Illinois, every jeep everywhere waved. There weren't too many of'm.

In Colorado, in the city, waves aren't too common as Jeep's are quite common (you're waving quite frequently). Where Jeep's are less common (rural-ish areas), waves are more common. (imo)

Motorcycles are about the same - waves abound though quite likely not at large rallies.

I find the same thing as Jim stated to be the case.

Next to no-one waves in the city and the percentage of returns increases proportionally as you near trails.

I hardly ever have someone give me the (Jeep Wave) so I hardly ever even give it a thought. But the other day on my way back from the springs. I was surprised by someone in a built JK and I was to late to respond. And when my wife and I was driving the other day she said someone waved and I was to busy talking to notice. I guess I'm guilty of letting a good thing go by the wayside. I better get my act together!

I rarely pay attention and don't often wave. Being from Nebraska, on the country roads everybody waves.

I wave at Jeeps and they look at me probably wondering why a Toyota guy's waving. I've gotten the single finger salute in return a few times.

I had a lady in a LR3 wave to me this morning. I tried waving back but I think I missed her. I have tried the Land Rover wave but most owners are unaware they are driving such capable off-roaders. I now keep to the older land rovers and ones with gear attached.

I get / give it all the time. I wave at anything I like, whatever make and model, and most of the time they give it back. The only thing I won't return it to is a Renegade. I have my limits.

    LOL!

True story – A guy in a brand-new Renegade waved at me a few months ago, and I just looked at him like “Do I know you?”. Didn’t even realize it was a Jeep until he was passing me (too late for me to wave back).

I will admit I have been "working on" waving to other XJs, and any brand modified vehicles, on the street. On the trail, I will hold up one finger for each vehicle behind me, a clenched fist if I am the last in my group.

Most people who drive JKs don't wave because they are people who want to drive a jeep for the cool factor and want to brag about it or are mall crawlers like earlier stated. When I was driving my TJ plenty of CJs, YJs and TJs waved. Now with the MJ I don't wave or get any because it's not something people who don't drive wranglers really do. Dirt roads everyone waves regardless of what you are driving as just showing a sign of courtesy.

When I was driving the TJ I wouldn't really wave at other wranglers that weren't modified because I would just assume it was someone driving the jeep to drive it and not part of the whole "Jeep community"

it's funny, because when you buy a brand new Wrangler, you get membership to the Mopar Jeep Wave program. free oil changes and stuff and random perks, and they talk about what makes the Jeep Wave special.

you'd think more JK drivers would be waving...
