I'm looking for some more Moab input.
kane creek looks really fun with a water element. Has anyone some this trail, how difficult is it?
the golden crack, how hard is it?
    thanks in advance

Kane Creek is fun Chris. We had a local guide us which helped a lot in not getting lost. The entrance has some pretty big steps and the "easy" route brings you scary close to a big cliff-like edge but otherwise isn't too tough. I wouldn't consider doing it solo, definitely need a good spotter. There are a number of water crossings across the creek and mosquitos and bugs galore. Might be bug free at this time of year but I don't really know.

I'm pretty good there's a run report from the time a number of us were there. Try searching for Kane Creek or more likely Moab.

it was really dry when we ran it, but that was in June. the water crossings were almost non-existent. the exit is challenging, but fun. it's a good scenic trail with some fun little obstacles. if it's going to rain though, I'd say skip it. the flash flooding can be pretty bad down there, I've heard. also quicksand.

Good point Jay, I had forgotten about the flash flooding. We were fortunate to have Marty lead us, he was a member back then and lived in Moab for something like 20 years at the time.

Golden Crack is not something I've encountered myself though I've seen plenty of pics.

Guess it depends on the year/season... I've been up Kane creek 3 times and didn't encounter much/any water. Fun trail and worth the time. Most washes or creek beds are insect magnets May-October, so be prepared for that.

Golden Crack is not all that bad if you are careful. Seems like many people are very careful getting the front tires across and forget to think about the rear tires. Damage is most likely as you try exit the obstacle, so keep that in mind.

As has been said here, Kane Creek was a bug fest, but a fun trip. Last time I ran it, was early spring, and some of the water crossings were pretty deep and there was a few places where people before us had been stuck in the mud/quicksand. I'd recommend taking somebody with you that knows the trail.

Golden Crack is a good place to break open diff vehicles. You cross this at an angle, and get your vehicle very crossed up while crossing. Locker will allow you to minimize your wheel-spin and cross pretty easy. Open diffs will set you up for a bunch of wheel-spin, and a very sudden catch when your vehicle suddenly catches and your tire grabs traction. Go with a group, and send the locked vehicle over first, then if you are having issues, take a strap and avoid spending a few hours just past the crack repairing your vehicle. From the crack, it is not an easy tow out in either direction.

chris you have a good ride.
dont think I would push doing golden crack ( gold bar rim/poison spider for the 11 hour-ish trifecta)
as mentioned above the crack is a good place to bust your stuff.
locked is not and issue nor is LARGE tires w/open front
you dont have these so this could be a rough day.
the easy route is not bad but the crack is just that a big CRACK

there are some realy great trails there chris.
if you stay under the 5 rated ( using the 1-10 scale)
    you will do fine.
remember these 3 words.......WATER, WATER, WATER you need a lot of it.
    this place is very dry.
    just say'n

    enjoy your trip
remember we like pics around here😆

Get the moab trails book especially for Kane creek because you will most likely get lost for a little bit. Fun trail though!

Why get lost in the age of GPS (unless you want to)?

I've been using "My Trails" app. I use on a tablet, but they have it for phone too.

Agreed, I keep an old iPad1 just for MotionX since it runs their discontinued GPS version which was the off-road app.
