    Default HUGE thanks to Hypoid!

Thank you so much Mike! Not only for your hard work, but also for putting up with me pumped full of heavy pain meds. Hope my back got a little rest today so we can finish this project up!

Mike is awesome. He helped me the past two days dig lots of these:

And helped set two of these:

After he left today, I got a couple more posts set. Back isn't doing too good but most of the back breaking work is now done thanks to Mike. Thanks again Mike!

That is good progress! Did you sweet-talk your Beautiful Bride into helping with the 2x3 tubing?

So I got another stick out there myself and then decided to wait for my wife. She helped carry another one out and then proceeded to help me with the next couple posts. She mostly watched and ran the levels after that, but that was what I needed. She was out there with me till past dark. She freaking rocks. Here are the posts that got set in the front:

This morning I have been laid up due to pain again. I tried to stop taking my heavy meds last night and that was a mistake. I just wanted my head cleared and my nausea to stop for once this week. But it was too soon. Hoping to get back at it after I take my pup for a short walk.

Aaron, I think I mentioned this but get your doc to call in a script for PROMETHAZINE HCL to combat the nausea.

I'm going to be back in the area early next week. If you have more project work to tend - evening next week or maybe next weekend, I'm game.

You need only one 2x4 to hold the post. I see how you did that!

Decided against running a string line or two. Was too worried I wouldn't get the faces of the tubing perfectly oriented with each other and that would then cause the top rail to not line up correctly. And I am way too much of a perfectionist for that. So I went with using the top rail tubing as I guide. Makes sure the faces of the tubing are oriented the same, as well as acts as a support and guide in one of the directions. I honestly didn't even need a 2x4 support at every post, could have done every other, since they are all tied together with the top rail tubing. But I played it safe.

Thanks again for your help Mike!

And thanks for the offers of help everyone. Right now I see this as a battle of wills and skills, my bum back versus the fence, and I plan on winning. It will just take me longer than it should. It's funny but mixing concrete actually feels good to my poor back. And I am making decent progress setting posts and pouring new curbing:

If you want some slow help I'd be happy to come over. I don't have the best back myself, but I'm still pretty young and stupid. I'd be happy to help. I'm just up off 21st near Francis.

Another round of thanks goes out to Mike!

Because of all the hard work Mike did for me (mixing concrete, digging some holes, and setting some posts), I was able to finish up the majority of my new fence. I still have the main gate to fab and a new shed to build, but most of the back breaking work has been done for some time. Just forgot to mention anything about it in this post.

    Before:

    After:

And with the "temp gate" I put up for now:

Puppy is happy. First thing he did when he was let out into his backyard again was to pee on the new fence. I just took it as his seal of approval.

Fence took me a bit after your last visit. Nothing like hauling out all the welding equipment and gear just to have to haul it all back because of rain. That's sucks normally but for a guy with a bum back right not, it was very demoralizing. But as I stated earlier, I was all about beating this dang fence, even if the process killed me.

Got all the metal up and coated while continually staining boards. Yes, I stained everything before I put it up. Even stained all the through holes and counter bores in the cross boards.

    Before:

    After:

I hung the majority of the cross boards and trimmed all the hardware down so nothing would easily snag on them.

And once I had all the pickets stained, my wife and I had a "picket" party and had a bunch of friends over to help hang them all. Even with all the trimming to length, ripping down of a few boards per panel, and the touch up of staining each board required, it only took us an afternoon of work. But I did set up 3 different teams that started in different places. Had a guy on each team to measure, one to cut, and one to hang. And then had a team of people that was just staining. Worked really well. It's almost like I do this kind of stuff for a living

Couple photos from the hanging party:

And how it looked from my neighbor's side, yup he get's the "good" side:
