    Default Tire Retreading in Denver?

I have an old spare tire, a 33x9.50 15 Wild Country AT that holds air but is worn low and pretty dry. I was hoping to get it recapped just for a trail spare, depending on the price and if they'll do it. Anyone had this done or know of a place? I found this one: http://aetire.com/tire-retreading

    Thanks!

yes. it is my spare now, IDK how recapping it would hurt. If you'd like to buy me a new tire for a spare I would say thank you.

appreciate the concern. I actually always carry two spares, this has been by 2nd spare for a long time and if the retreader thinks it's a good candidate I'll go with that opinion, otherwise it's still coming along. Some people run treadwrights on all 4 corners, I've never heard this come up over that before.

sooo- anyone actually have some experience with a local retreader?

Jumping in - bottom line cost is perhaps the first factor. What is the cost of the retread vs buying a good-used tire of suitable size?

I'd call A&E tire and talk to them about the cost/options. You can then consider treadright, local, or new/use options.

Post Re: Tire Retreading in Denver?

    The bacl story-

I've been running 33x12.50s on stock wheels with 1.5" spacers. I carry a full size spare in the back and the tire I'm considering retreading in the OEM spare location on the tailgate. (see photo). 33x9.50 is hard to find now and fits perfectly where it is. I'd like to keep it or replace it, but I can't find one that is any better...

t bought Shane's 33x10.50 KO2s and have a thread on here looking for a matching spare, and on two other sites. I've also been looking on CL, Ebay and Amazon auctions but have not found one. I do have six 33x12.50s on OEM wheels now, but they're too wide and I'll have to buy a replacement wheel to match my new wheels that I bought at the same time as the new tires, (deleted the spacers at the same time so the OEM bs is too much) so I'm hoping to find one already on a 15x8 steel wheel with 3.75 bs (common), or just a tire and I'll then buy a wheel.

So while I'm looking I thought Id explore this option...

treadwright doesn't have any 33s of any width for 15" wheels or I would.

Pual, don't worry about the negative comments.
I know guys that run regards on the jeeps on all 4 corners as well.
Not an issue for a light truck and if you keep the psi right they don't get hot and come apart.

A&E is the local retread shop for all the big tires.
I have years of experience dealing with there stuff
Have had them retread skidsteer tires as well.
Not sure the cost for your tire but I know you will be able to use the tire as a spark with no worries.
As long as the passing is in good shape you will be fine.

It's not negative, I'd call it polite disagreement, nothing wrong with that. And based on my initial post w/o all the information, they're right.

so I spoke with aetire today and they don't do any passenger or light truck tires, commercial stuff only. I'm looking around still, but I think I'm going to slime it instead when I move it to a new wheel. I was under the impression that slime was bad for wheels, but the video with the drill says it isn't as does the website.

They drill 4 holes in the tire and it seals right up. IDK how that translates to the real world...

Check out how dry the tire is that is slimed @ about 30 seconds in, the rest of the video is dull.

Sorry to hear they can't help you out.
There used to be a company up in north Dakota that did retreads for light duty trucks.
