Post New to wheeling in beatiful USA

    Hello!
My names Mauricio. If you find it hard to pronounce that's ok. A lot of people call me "moose". I've been in the US for 3 years now but I've always had a passion for wheeling even back home In Venezuela, where I ran trails in a 80 series Land cruiser. I have managed to aquire a beautiful 2016 premium trail edition (without KDS) and have ran Bunce school road multiple times.
I am interested in the sport here in CO and would love to meet new people and also get to learn the ropes around these beautiful mountains and of course keep learning and developing as a Wheeler. AI enjoy both playing and listening to good music, and of course, As my tag says...I dislike Pavement

Hope to meet you guys soon and see some of this gorgeous country.
    Mauricio

    Thank you Jim!
Well, the terrain is rugged but not as rocky, more jungle like in most areas. Lots of nice secluded beaches to go to but you have to go in a large group and even then be very careful since its very dangerous and murders, car stealings and muggings are more than common.

The really amazing wheeling in Venezuela is down in the "Gran Sabana" or Canaima National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, with awesome long distance wheeling and trails for all levels and rigs and lots of bodies of water. I cant even begin to describe what its like there, its almost like another planet. Picture Moab but larger and greener.

Hope to wheel with you guys soon!

Look'n forward to it - spring's around the corner!

Fortunately, there's scant little concern for murders and vehicle theft around here...

Front Range is different than many "groups". Each of us is on equal footing - if you want something done - then DO IT!

If you wish to stir the waters and get out on a trail, head over to the "Planning" section in the Trails forum. Start a thread stating what's on your mind. It often starts out as "I'm looking at X trail on Y day" or "I'm looking at some trail TBD some day in the next couple weeks". Interested people will pipe up with thoughts & plans and will express interest to join in. Through the process a trail run will form up. Once you have a hard trail/s and date/time/meet spot, start a thread in "Planned" with the stats. Last minute items (sometimes nothing changes) get hashed out in Planned. Also place an entry on the Calendar with trail/s & date/time/meet for you and others to RSVP - that way the organizer knows who, generally, to expect at the meet spot. It's nice to know that at least one other person will join in - should a helping hand/truck be needed on the trail.

Up north, Bunce & Ironclads and Rock Creek are open in the winter. I'm not certain about southern trails. That info too can be hashed out in a "Planning" thread of "what trail is open for us to visit".

nice to have an international member here.
    welcome welcome

as Jim mentioned the north trails
the 4 gultches south are open, TJ was there last weekend
mettberry is always a good time
longwater is getng some big holes on the steep section that are getting challenging
hackett is one of my favorites for winter wheeling
the bottom gets slick and can be very tough to come back out so take friends for sure
prediter is new and I have nor run it yet.

to answer your question about when the wheeling sesion realy kicks off
most the trails open the first part of may, yet the snow levels this year will make this interesting spring wheeling
