I suspect you have a couple of things going on. First, get the driveshaft serviced and working. Then, since you said the noise is dependent on RPM rather than MPH, I'd focus my attention on the engine, transmission (and/or torque converter if if you have an automatic).

I think his drive shaft needs the home replaced from damage due to the prior failure.

Okay so I've put about 1000 miles on my new joints and they are starting to squeak again. The plan is to replace the driveshaft once I am back from college.

So mentioned above it could also be something with my engine or transmission... what should I be looking at? I have a Renix 4.0L, AX-15 and NP231.

Since it appears the noise is dependant on u-joint condition (went away with new joints then came back with wear), I'd guess the problem is limited to the joints or driveshaft.

If you take it to a driveline shop, they can evaluate the shaft and spin balance it if need be.

So I replaced my U-joints again hopefully for the last time because I'm hoping to get a new one this summer as money allows. I figured I'd share the photos of the ones I just changed in case you guys have anymore input.

As you can see the tops of all the ends looks like they have been milled out, they are all grooved and have the steps look to them. I tried to get the best picture I could but my phone didn't want to focus where I needed it to.

I see a chamfer with a grease channel, good things to see on a new U-Joint.

Are those black spots pits, or contamination that you did not wipe off?

Ok so the joint in the new pic...I don't see any damage....
So this groove to bad is it?
Does your finger nail get fought on them?

    Need better pics

Keep the worn joints and take then with the shaft to be spun etc.

I am willing to bet you have a slightly bent ear.
When you are putting them in is one cup tougher to get installed?

Hey if you have some time this youtube series on Ujoints will teach you a bunch on the subject. It can be as simple as the wrong clips causing premature failure.

And the clip facing the wrong way.....they have a flat sharp corner and a rounded corner.....
The direction can be a culperit. Generaly square edge to the cup is what we were tought in school.

I used to have a big book crime spicer all about u- point's.

Didn't keep the joint this time around. I will be getting a new driveshaft this summer so I wasn't so worried about keeping it since I will last til I get the driveshaft.

I will reiterate again my joints started acting up once my rear axle was replaced. I had no problems til I put the C8.25. Could I be installing the joints wrong to some degree? Yes but that was not the original problem. I am just posting one last picture just encase anyone has any more incite that could help. Once I get the new driveshaft and if this problem persist I'll know that the driveshaft wasn't the problem and I will return to see if I can seek out the problem.

I would take a close look at the yokes on both ends as well. If your pinion yoke took a hit and has a bent ear or is off center, replacing your driveshaft will not help. Something is out of alignment and is putting a torque on your joints that is not in the axis of rotation.

The yoke on my pinion is torn up due to when my u-joint first blew up on me so I'll be replacing that. I can take a close look at the slip yoke. I'm thinking maybe the guy who installed my axle may have welded it at the wrong angle. Would that cause something like this to happen?

If the axle is at the wrong angle this definitely could happen, and there would be more vibration during normal driving. http://www.4xshaft.com/ go to the top right of the page and click on the tech info link. There is quite a bit of good info there on how the shaft should be aligned and the proper driveline angles.

Unless there is a difference in the width of leaf spring mounts, the perches should not have needed to be welded. You can pick up and install shims pretty easily if you need to adjust pinion angle.Make sure to clamp the springs together to remove centering pin. It is a matter of finding the sweet spot between pinion angle and shaft angle to keep things smooth. A simple pitch gauge is not very expensive and could be helpful with this.
    http://www.jegs.com/i/UMI-Performanc...fyjRoC-_rw_wcB

8.25 will have a crush sleeve in pinion IIRC, recommended to replace it every time. Can't go wrong with a SYE, contact Bill at Englewood drive shaft and he can get you squared away with kit and shaft. He can also shorten your current shaft if you need to because of axle swap. He shortened mine when I swapped in the 44 and made one when I did the SYE. He has also modified a couple front shafts for me on a few vehicles. He is a member here and takes good care of us.

When I click the link, that ends in .jpg, I'm prompted to save a .webp file. It saved as an .webp document. No dice in opening it. Renamed to .JPG - no dice. The file had RIFF and webp in the headers.

It could be a Google permissions issue. I am not signed in to any Google account and perhaps the item is not shared to non-google-authenticated visitors.

No big deal - just offering feedback.
