Default Who's Interested in Maybe Chinaman Gulch in February?

It's a little far off (maybe not, as fast as this year's flying by)...but I'm totally itching to go, and too busy until February. Weather (and Kenosha pass) permitting, is anyone interested in a run to Chinaman Gulch??

Sweet!!! It's so awesome. And it's worth the 2.5 hour drive - the trail itself is something like 12 miles long. It's gotten harder over the years, as stuff gets rutted and the rocks get more exposed. It makes for an amazing day! I love it too, because it's not cliffy. It's gulchy. No one's dying from falling off the edge. Like, oh, you know, Saxon above Georgetown. If I never drive that again, it'll be too soon.

I've heard of Saxon but never drove it. I'd like to so I can see what everyone is talking about. Regardless, I'm in and might have one or 2 other rigs will to go.

Saxon's one of two (that I know of) ways to get down from Spring Creek. I looooove running Spring Creek, but will pass on coming back down Saxon. Whatever year it was with the recent slides (last year?), my husband went out with the group and there was a full-sized F-150 on Saxon. An inexperienced guy from Texas. My husband spotted him over the slide areas - so totally off-camber, toward the cliff side - and even from just the pictures I saw, pretty sure I'd've been puking. SO glad I didn't go that day. Major wuss with shelf roads here. If I can find the pix, I'll post them. If you like shelf roads, it's a must-do! It's so nice and close, too.

Re: Chinaman - any chance anyone's interested/off for Friday, December 30? (It's definitely not February, but I just thought of it!)

We will be interested in your Feb run if it's not interfering with the annual run at China wall.
    We love chinnamans

As for Saxon it's not that bad, if you can do spring creek then Saxon is a cake walk.
Look in the run reports there is pics from this year.
    We ran it mid summer.

Keep your eyes on the calender, we run the southern vultches a lot this time of year as the snow is thin down there.
Hackett, Mettberry, longwater, and now Preditor.
We are looking at Sunday the 18th tentatively right now.

Agreed in that there's no technical aspect to it. But if you're a total weenie about narrow shelf roads like I am...that's a whole 'nother animal. I can do Spring Creek all day long. Get me on a skinny shelf road, and my knees turn to soup. I'm definitely in the minority with this particular pansy issue.

there are a few here that feel the same way.

as for spring creek, the shelf road to the rock garden is far tighter, thus my coment about saxon.

again you are welcomed back to our little slice of heven.

hope to see you out on the trails

I'm pretty open any weekend. As for the 30th, I can probably make that happen. My team is gone the last 2 weeks of the month anyways.
    Let me know!!

Sweet!! We'll likely have a trailer for my husband's rig, too, so definitely will be a consideration.
