    Default Trail Etiquette

In order for our love of wheeling the outdoors to continue there are a few things every wheeler needs to know. Here are a couple links that sum things up nicely

I was thinking the same thing! Could it become part of the the Terms and Conditions? Not to make it hard for anyone... Most of this is common sense, but...

Its under the Newbie section, but not mandatory. Trailridge Runners has new members afirm they have read and will follow this etiquette document.

It's about time to hit the prime wheeling season, thought I would give this a little bump.

What?! You mean I can't drink until im obliterated, go uphill and make everyone move out of my way while staring them down with a dirty look because everybody's rig sucks but mine, then do a 30 point turn in the middle of a trail while hitting every single tree in my way that I threw my beer cans at??

Of course just kidding but the sad reality is that I have seen this exact thing happen... more than once... I do think more people need to read about trail manners as it seems it's a lost art any more.

the biggest problem I see on trail runs is not keeping an eye on the guy behind you. Stop when he/she stops, make sure you can always see them in your mirror. I can think of a few runs just last year where someone had a problem and the rest of the group just kept on going; not rudeness, just caught up in the moment and lost track.

Simple solution is to make sure the person leading the run and the person bringing up the rear either have a CB radio or even a simple walkie-talkie to be able to communicate with just one other person on the run. I have one CB and a set of cheap radios that work well. I try to remember to bring all three on every run so I can share with others that don't have either. I stop when I haven't seen the guy behind me in the last minute or so. I often receive a call out from someone in front of me asking me what's wrong. My reply is that I'm fine but I can't see the guy behind me. It's really very easy if everyone pays attention. Just stop and wait a minute then either turn around and go back for them or take a short walk back to offer spotting assistance or whatever if needed. (Make sure to stop the rest of the group if you can). Maybe he/she needed a bio-break or wanted to take a few pictures. No big deal. As long as we know where everyone is - it's all OK.
