Default 2016 Fall Adopt a Trail Cleanup Run

    Well this is deja vu........

So we need to sneak in our fall cleanups on our adopted trails before the end of the month. First off, I would like to apologize for this being such short notice. I've had quite the ummmmmm............adventure the last few weeks, culminating with emergency hand surgery this last Friday, not being released from the hospital until Sunday (actually a day earlier than the surgeon wanted) Last Wednesday I was bitten on the finger by one of our cats up in Georgetown. It got infected and by Friday morning there was no other option but head to the emergency room. Did not take them long to decide they needed to cut my hand open and get it cleaned out. I wont go into gory detail, but I've got 3 incisions on one finger, and I'm told they basically sprayed into one incision and out the other. At this point I have no clue what the recovery schedule is, so the odds of me being able to help much this time around is slim, but rest assured I'll be there to at least get lots of pics and vids.

We basically have the next two weekends to get these trails cleaned up so our efforts are counted towards this years' totals. As I did for each trail in the spring i opened up a poll for each of the four days over the next two weekends. Please vote for any and all days you would be available to help. I'll do the best I can to get everyone working on the trail they prefer but we will need 2 groups as even in size as possible since there is a lot of ground to cover on both trails.

We will be running both trails at the same time so we can certainly use all the help we can get. Hope to see everyone there! Thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear about your hand. Still have yet to dial in the LR3. I can ride along with someone though and am pretty sure I'm open all 4 days (need to check with Jenn).

Damn Chad, that sucks!!! I'm so sorry that happened to you, cat bites can be nasty. Good move going to the hospital, you probably saved your hand.

weekend of the 24 / 25th works for me. I'd like to do Devil's Canyon this time, did Barbour in the spring.

Voted - available all 4 days but expect to fill those with plans quickly so it would be very helpful to get the clean-up run date set so we can schedule around it.

    Thanks - James

It will probably be the easiest cleanup so far. We ran it today and picked up a few bottles and all I could see on our way out was some clay pigeons fragments remnants on the entrance section. We didn't go to the campsites though.

I can probably make this and if so would drive my F350 4x4 with lots of room for trash. Would that be able to navigate these trails?

How long is it - guessing length and overhang could have some clearance issues on BF. Would probably be fine DC if you bypass the one steep and slightly more challenging spot. Some paint concern could be an issue with narrowness and brush/limbs. I take my stock TRD tacoma with 31s on either - but that seems a lot easier than a F350.

Healing is going well, had a follow up appointment with the surgeon and he was surprised at well it was doing considering how bad it was. Thank you everyone for the get well comments!!

Looks like Sunday the 25th has the majority available, so let's go with it!! I'll put it on the calendar when I get home to my computer. (We're in Idaho Springs about to hit some trails) I'll have more details in the calendar, but let's do 9AM at the Ranger's station in Idaho Springs.

Be sure to bring your PPE, long sleeves, pants, gloves, and a lunch. Both trails have good places to gather and eat. Also, bring some large yard trash bags, buckets are handy to carry with you and empty into the trash bags.

Bob, generally each person has no more than a trash bag each, and so far, anything large we've had to haul out has fit on my roof rack no problem. I think you be fine on Devil's Canyon with it, but most likely wouldn't be neccessary.

Side note, we ran a piece of Barbour tonight (had to come down to meet and pick up a friend to ride with us tonight) but the bit we did run has gotten a little rougher with a couple off camber spots up to 20 degrees that are unavoidable. Was having a blast though!!

Hope to see everyone out there that I've wheeled with before and hope to meet some new people too!! Thank you in advance for your participation, we can't do this without you!!

I am available but may not have my rear driveshaft before then. I know my rig can do about 80% of devils canyon. Or I could ride along with someone.
