    Default McLealan/Saxon mountin 6/5

So Evan(synergyXJ) and I ran up to Georgetown area with the ladies in tow.
we started the day in Waldorf canyon. ran into deep sown early. had to buts through some large drift's at the 2nd water crossing.
we made our way up from there to the ore pile.
At this point the snow was to deep and no spaces in between. so we turned around and made our way up to Agular pass (the main road) we made some more progress there. and again hit deep snow and a XJ that was sitting on the side of the road.
So we encountered an XJ and a WJ both minus the drivers slight evidence of them going up trail on foot.
At this point we turned around headed down hill, took a spur road had lunch and decided to do Saxon Mountain.

Traildamage list this as a 3 or 4.
Yet they have not run this in 8 years! wow talk about failing to update your trail listing.

We found the trail head sometime around 1. Started up hill.
This was a good run and we got some wonderful views.
This is a bumpy run for sure
Mid mountain the rock slide covers the road. it is not to bad has a little close spot on the uphill side.
The rest of the road up was a good time lots of rock fall a few are tight requiring some technical driving.
We hit snow up high, at this point Evan was in front and busted through with little issues.
we hit a big bad drift on the south facing side way up on saxon.
Evan made 4 realy good attempts to bust this up.
Had to winch off this thing.
we made the decision to take Cascade Creek to make our way down.
This was a bad Idea. the snow was deep Evan had to take the winch a few times.
About 5pm we turned around and want down Saxon.

A few pics for you all.

more to come when the girls send them so they can be posted

Did you come down the back side, or return via the switchbacks above Georgetown?

We're going to use Cascade creek to go back down to the Idaho Springs side.
We ended up turnning around and back down Saxon so all the switch backs.

Never again will I take Saxon mountain. There's a section there with a boulder on the left and sure death drop off on the right where the road is 6ft wide while my truck is 7ft. Pheww!

Saxon is getting tight in a few places for sure.
I bet the spot where the land slide was has to be super tight in an H1!
