    Default Bolt Hood Lock

So, the other day I was up skiing, and apparently someone was slightly pissed that I parked close to the back of their vehicle as directed by the parking dude. When I got back to my Jeep, my hood was up...everything checked out, so they didn't actually do anything..but either way I was a bit annoyed.
So, looking to get a hood lock, read a few threads on the different options, either the hood latch locks, or the center lock, and it seems the best option is the center lock by Bolt. https://www.boltlock.com/shop/chrysl...locks/7026128/
It's only $60, so not a ton of cash, but I don't have a rivet gun, and don't really want to purchase one for a single project.
My question is, has anyone here done this, and still has the tools to do it?
Would love to come hang out at your place, install an easy part, and bring you some beer for your troubles.
    thanks
    -Tim

Not a bad option, but I like the Bolt brand because I can key it to my ignition key.

To play devil's advocate, what will you do in case of a fire under the hood? That extra 30 seconds may be the difference between you putting it out without much harm done, and losing the complete vehicle. Also be careful and check what your insurance company has to say about locking your hood. I know fire departments are against it...

I've been wanting to do this with mine as well for the same reason. Thanks Aaron for the advice about the insurance company.

Not too worried about a fire under the hood...more worried about asshats messing with my engine that could cause a fired under the hood.

How hard would it be to do a hood pop cable and retrofit something from a pickup latch? Seems aside from salvaging the assembly, and running the cable this might be a viable option...

Tim - I didn't look at your bolt lock super closely, but is it easier/possible to just drill a hole and use a bolt and nut instead of riveting? Guessing the rivet is preferred for either security (difficult to remove) or clearance reasons, but if the bolt/nut are inside the hood they would be difficult to access (Used to have one on a YJ). Also there are lots of unique/specialty bolts (with recessed heads etc) and nuts for tight clearances.
