I was just looking thru some old threads and it is amazing how many people have come thru this site since I started my original membership in 2008. Wonders where some of them are today?

Some have moved out of state. Many have simply stopped.
With wheeling being a hobby (for many), I can see the winds shifting as life progresses.
I don't wheel as much but don't ever see myself stopping. Just have overlanding and wheeling now.
I have no time, too much work and personal stuff going on. I've done one run this year, the year is more than half over, so I'm basically a web wheeler at this point. I'm working 26 days on / 4 off each month so it's been almost impossible to plan anything. I'd imagine being busy like me or just a change of interests are some big reasons for attrition.
Attrition is normal but we have a lot more people here than ever. What surprises me is what appears to be a drop in runs that are being posted. There seem to be a lot more run reports than member runs from my read of run reports at least.

I agree.
Yep. More peeps, less activity. This is one odd year, season-wise. While we're past the halfway mark, the trails are still "just opening". Not an excuse - just is.
This is an odd year.
BUT...
GOOD TIMES ARE AHEAD

Ive had to cut back on my wheeling a great deal (I started dialysis in January) and just getting things back in line now. I had let my rigs kinda go downhill when I was sick last year (went as long as I could without the dialysis). I have my Explorer in the shop right now and finishing up the repairs on my Ranger (new fuel pump and new IROCs for it). Hopefully I will get the Explorer back and be able to trust it to take out (random no start issue, and no communication with the computer through the data port). My Samurai has stayed running, but I have to travel a bit for any runs and its not really pleasant for long road trips.
I hope you continue to get better Mark! Is this something you can look forward to recovering to 100%?

Been busy with life. but will be posting a trip up soon
Spent most of my time so far on the motorcycle or bicycle, but hoping to get a few jeep trips in throughout the rest of the season.
It is a time consuming and expensive hobby for sure. Life happens and it is an easy one to put aside. I took a 5 year break from it while family and work things where just more important. There was also a a brief year or two when I was more into muscle cars about 10 years ago and if I didn't get so many tickets I might have kept up with that instead of going back to wheeling.
Family activities and work always seem to consume my time. It's probably been 1.5 years since I last wheeled. Somehow I need to find the time to get back into the hobby I enjoy so much.
Heck, my FJ40 build thread is so outdated, the thing is just about done now! Hope to get it out on the trail very soon for a shake down run. Here's a teaser pic... I'll get around to updating the build thread one of these days.

In a never ending search for the proper mix of dirt & rock !
Sam I know what you are saying and for me its been a drag so far this year without hitting any trails so far do to the engine issue in the Bronco but the new 460 is going in for the rebuild as soon as my son can come by and pick it up to take in to Blue Oval Performance. So in the meantime we are looking at buying a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited so we can hit a few trails before the snow flies. Actually getting ready to go the door to look at one as soon as momma is ready.
